About This File

Perfectly perverse fat gain and loss system with body morphs and food addiction, highly configurable, includes soft integration for many popular adult mods.

 

Gain body fat the more you eat, and lose it through typical wasteland activities. Unhealthy packaged pre-war food and sugary drinks fatten you up faster than raw or cooked foods. Booze and some chems will also cause you to put on weight while others will help you lose it. Too much or too little body fat results in (potentially severe) debuffs, but staying fit gives you some mild bonuses. Eat junk food too often and you might become addicted!

 

Unhealthy Craving includes depictions of and references to fat fetishism, shaming and humiliation, destructive behaviors like self-harm... in essence sexualizing physical and mental health disorders. As such, it may not be to everyone's tastes. Most features can be disabled individually, but if these themes offend you then it's probably better to skip this mod and move on.

 

The goal is to put you inside the mind of a person with on-again/off-again food addiction and weight problems, experiencing the challenges and embarrassments which go along with that. Because this is still a game, the portrayal is often cartoonish or otherwise unrealistic, sometimes making light of real life health risks. In order to offset the negative aspects and keep things playable, there are somewhat outlandish benefits to being fat or being food-addicted. Unlike real life, nothing is permanent and any lapses in judgment can be overcome with time. Like real life however, the deck is stacked against you and you must make strategic choices if you intend to stay healthy.

 

Installation and Requirements
Rad Morphing Redux version 2.0.0 or later and its dependencies are required (MCM, F4SE, SUP F4SE, LooksMenu, and the Far Harbor and Nuka-World DLCs). To use this mod, install it with a modern FOMOD-capable manager like Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex and then configure one or more sliders in RMR's MCM to use the trigger it provides. Adjust other features and settings in the Unhealthy Craving MCM pages, and by editing the included mod integration text files under the UC subdirectory of your game's Data directory.

 

Features
All of these are on by default, but you can use MCM to disable any you don't like.

Body fat tracking

Consuming food and chems increases or decreases body fat, and certain effects can also cause you to burn fat more or less quickly. Which items have what effect are controlled mostly through formlists of consumable items, keywords and effects, which can be adjusted to your liking by editing Fat*.txt, Food*.txt and JunkFood*.txt files in the UC subdirectory of your game's Data folder. You can add, remove or change any you want, perhaps to add support for some items from another mod or simply to cater to your own preferences and play style.

 

With Rad Morphing Redux correctly configured, your appearance will slowly change as your body fat amount rises and falls. What changes that causes to your appearance, and whether or when some of your clothing and armor may cease to fit, will depend on your RMR settings. If you don't want to use this feature, simply don't apply the corresponding trigger to any sliders in RMR's MCM, but because of the way this mod is designed you'll still need RMR and its dependencies installed and enabled in your game.

 

A very simple configuration example for the Fusion Girl body is to use its BodyFat slider with a target value of 300 and clothing forcibly stripped at 50% (that corresponds to being overweight in Unhealthy Craving). Users of other bodies may need a more complex set of sliders, and for that the RMR Helper tool can be quite useful: just feed it a (SS)BBW or BHM preset of your liking and apply the slider configuration it gives you.

To view your exact body fat percentage, use a Med-Tek ForEVrFIT+ Smart Scale (found in the armor section of your inventory) by dropping it on the ground and activating it for a realistic weigh-in. If you're in a hurry, you can just equip it directly from your Pip-Boy or as a favorited item. If you don't have a Smart Scale, you can build one at a chemistry workbench (under the Utility category) as long as you have all the necessary components, or get a new one for free in the settings page of the MCM. Alternatively, you can access the same score card directly from the title page of the Unhealthy Craving MCM or by binding a hotkey on the settings page.

 

If you want to see detailed information on exactly how much fat is being gained or lost and from what activities, there are options in the MCM debugging page to temporarily turn on notifications about it. These notifications are fairly frequent and verbose, however, so it's not recommended to leave them on indefinitely. Additionally, there's an option for recording detailed metabolism calculation data to your Papyrus log, if you want to inspect exactly what's influencing your periodic fat burn and by how much.

 

Numerous settings are provided in MCM to control how much fat is gained or burned for various items, activities and effects. The default values are carefully chosen and painstakingly tested to be optimal for typical playthroughs. Users of mods which significantly alter things like game timescale, food value, or item scarcity are advised to make small adjustments one at a time and closely monitor the results to ensure continued playability.


Unhealthy craving for junk food

Consuming junk food can lead to an insidious addiction, and it's more likely to happen the fatter you get. You'll be notified with a pop-up message box when this addiction is acquired or lost. Which consumables count as junk food can be configured by editing the JunkFood*.txt files in the UC subdirectory of your game's Data folder.

 

Neither doctors nor medication can cure it but, if you manage to go long enough without having any more junk food, the addiction and any related effects will eventually go away. You have to abstain from junk food for at least one full in-game day to have a chance of getting over it, but the fatter you are the harder it will be to overcome your addiction and could take days or even months.

 

Once addicted, after some number of in-game hours depending on how fat you are (and also what your willpower score is if you're using the Sex Attributes mod), you'll begin to experience a craving for more junk food if you haven't had any recently. As time goes on, the strength of this craving will increase until it's satisfied. To see your current craving strength and any additional desperation (or lack thereof), as well as how long it's been since you last indulged, use a Med-Tek ForEVrFit+ Smart Scale.

 

Users of the Sex Attributes mod will experience a reduction in their spirit score and increase in arousal from feeding their addiction. Satisfying your craving has a chance, based on how fat you are, to cause you to fall to the floor in a noisy foodgasm fit alerting any nearby hostiles. If you have Sex Attributes, foodgasms will use its orgasm mechanic and also put you nearly to a mind break, so be careful! In the future, this mod will have additional negative effects based on craving strength, as well as ways to maintain self control and keep the craving in check.


You're a cereal killer

Inspired by a classic American marketing tradition enticing children to stuff themselves with terrible sugary foods every morning, boxes of breakfast cereal have a 50% chance of including some sort of of toy or prize. Normally it will just be nearly worthless junk/scrap toys (or cigarettes... you know, for kids!), but there's a small chance to find candy or more valuable trinkets. In order to give you some enticement to stay fat, you'll have a higher chance for better rewards the fatter you are.

 

If you have a mod which includes different kinds of breakfast cereals (are there any?) you can easily add support by editing the BreakfastCereal.txt file in the UC subdirectory of your game's Data folder. If you want to change up or expand on the possible rewards, edit the CerealBox*.txt files.


There's junk in that trunk

When you're addicted (regardless of whether you're experiencing a craving) you gain an uncanny ability to sense nearby junk food items. You'll even become aware of items in containers, locked or not. Try to use your newfound superpower for good and not evil! Om nom nom...

 

This feature will periodically alert you with notifications, though it tries to strike a balance between providing you with timely feedback and annoying you by repeating too often. If you want to see detailed information about what consumables or containers are detected and their distance from your character, there's an option on the debugging MCM page to display that instead of the more immersive text.


Who's a filthy piggy?

If you're using the Get Dirty mod, being overweight (50%) or fatter prevents you from experiencing radiation damage from that mod's hardcore mode when you don't bathe. If you stay filthy and overweight, you'll also be impervious to external radiation effects (radiation hazards, rad storms, weapons, brief swimming), but you'll still take internal radiation damage from eating and drinking.

 

It's highly recommended to install the additional plugin patch when prompted in the FOMOD installer menu. Get Dirty doesn't provide much in the way of an API to selectively block its hardcore radiation damage, so a patch is necessary to replace its check for the presence of the Aqua Boy perk with a check for Unhealthy Craving's Filthy Piggy perk. This results in no loss of functionality for female players (the Aqua Girl check is left intact), but for male players it does effectively remove the ability for Aqua Boy to block Get Dirty's hardcore radiation damage. Without the patch you'll still be immune to external radiation effects while Filthy Piggy's conditions are met, but it will be unable to block Get Dirty's own radiation damage effect. The plugin patch is made for Get Dirty 2.0 or later, so users of prior Get Dirty versions should upgrade.

 

If you're using the Get Dirty Additional Effects mod, be aware that its 1.0 release does not work with current versions of Get Dirty and should be avoided until someone provides an update. However, the Unhealthy Craving Get Dirty patch reduces Get Dirty's hardcore radiation damage rate from 10 per second to 1 per second similarly to the "less rads" variants of Get Dirty Additional Effects, since this seems to be a popular adjustment.

 

This feature does nothing if you're not using Get Dirty or you disable its hardcore option.

 

Body fat bonuses and penalties

Your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and health are influenced by body fat, and your Pip-Boy will show you an effect and perk entry letting you know how thin or fat you are with 10 different levels each corresponding to 10% of the body fat maximum: emaciated, thin, fit, thick, chubby, overweight, fat, obese, morbidly obese, and obscenely obese.

Woeful weigh-ins

Once per day, checking your fitness (with a Smart Scale, hotkey or the button in MCM) will alter your Sex Attributes self esteem proportional to the degree to which you're fit or fat. Normally, results within the bottom third of the range result in a boost to self esteem while results in the higher two thirds will cause a loss (the amount is proportional to how high or low your fat is). Junk food addicts have their perceptions skewed such that results in the bottom two thirds improve self esteem and only the highest third depresses it. The "inspiring" messages printed below your statistics are evidence that the engineers and consulting dieticians at Med-Tek have a warped outlook on eating disorders and weight management.

 

Drop the towel

When standing on a Med-Tek ForEVrFit+ Smart Scale (by first dropping one from the armor category of your inventory if necessary and then activating it on the ground), you will take off all your clothing in order to ensure an accurate result. The included stripping routine will respect AAF protected equipment keywords, and is therefore also compatible with Roggvir's No-Strip Items Manager. This feature works for NPCs as well.

 

Disable this if you want to keep your clothing on while weighing, it's an entirely cosmetic feature and has no lasting effect on any actual values.

 

Cover your shame

Spoiler

After stepping off of a Med-Tek ForEVrFit+ Smart Scale, any clothing removed during your weigh-in will be reequipped. This is relevant only for the player, as NPCs using the scale will always put their clothing back on when they finish.

 

Disable this if you want to remain naked after weighing, for example if you use an equipment manager that you engage manually or have to put things on in a specific order to work around bugs in unrelated mods.

 

Perfectly preserved

The fatter you are, the easier it is to use your bulk to jostle and wrestle a Port-A-Diner into dispensing pie. Because it needs a minor alteration to a base game script, this feature is controlled through a FOMOD installer option, not in MCM.

Script source code is included, and all contents of this mod are distributed under the same terms as Rad Morphing Redux itself.

BEHAVIOR CHANGE: The original pace at which body fat changes progressed was useful for testing, but rather fast and volatile for long-term play. After extensive playtesting, the default Progression Factor in MCM has been reduced to 0.10, making the mod 10x more gradual at increasing and decreasing body fat. The original balance of factors has been retained, they just all have one tenth the effect by default now for a more realistic experience. If you preferred the old rate, simply set Progression Factor back to 1.00 in the Settings page of the Unhealthy Craving MCM and continue playing as usual.

 

  • Changed Progression Factor default from 1.0 to 0.1 for gradual experience
