In Mortum Castle...

Spoiler

Shea: Are you sure there isn't anything for me to do?

Xeog3b33 o

Crenada: Very sure, well apart from one thing.

N9ohfioo o

Shea: Please, give it to me, otherwise I might gouge out my own eyes for fun.

Ogdetkz3 o

Crenada: Well there's a job in Solitude that needs to be done.

Ohhoegmc o

Shea: That'll do, tell me about it.

P1vtzlt2 o

Crenada: Well a girl wants her father killed.

Jeag63rh o

Shea: Is that it?

5ql23gj3 o

Shea: This is going to be easy then.

30aolwft o

Crenada: I wouldn't say that, you're going to have to find the girl and then find the father and then-

Ba2kn7wz o

Shea: Okay! Point taken, it isn't going to be easy.

Xihgwrtm o

Shea: I'll get it done either way.

Abcpcuwi o

A few days later...

Raina: Hey traveller, what brings you here?

Ss5uvksi o

Shea: (Sigh) Work, really.

Iqzwst7r o

Raina: Me too, I was sent to deal with some bandits here. You?

Egjvvw46 o

Shea: Similar thing really, except I'm after a single guy.

Bt7kqpao o

Raina: Must be unlucky to get on your bad side.

0gp2ayeu o

Shea: Well I don't know where to find him, but to find him I need to find a girl, she should stick out, she must be...fifteen maybe fourteen.

Parsu49x o

Raina: You mean Elwyn? That's a sad story. But if you're here to help her, who am I to argue?

Op84hykm o

Elwyn: (Humming)

Bj5yi3br o

Shea: Well thanks for your help Raina.

H2qzxqvi o

Shea: Don't ask how I know your name, I've had my eye on you a while.

Tcehybkn o

Elwyn: He...hello?

Kvqfewdb o

Shea: Hey kiddo.

85bdhln8 o

Elwyn: Wha...what do you want?

Hzj0y5jb o

Shea: You're looking for help aren't you?

83vudvm4 o

Elwyn: You're finally here!

Cl4aph1u o

Shea: Oh, that's... Okay where is your father?

9cclbzek o

Elwyn: Well... I don't really know.

L4nh3gcc o

Shea: Well, that's a good start.

Bo4axhel o

Elwyn: I know...it's silly to try and get you to find someone who I can't find but-

Dgtdpssw o

Elwyn: But he has to go, please?

Wpnonusm o

Shea: I wasn't going to deny you anything, but I'm just thinking of how to find him.

1zzpegw5 o

Elwyn: Tha-thank you.

Trui00um o

Elwyn: I spent all I could getting that letter a...and -

Jbfnyxht o

Shea: Okay kid, don't let this get too mushy, I'm here to kill someone.

I7wsl1h4 o

Raina: Hey! Good luck.

2mx2au5x o

Raina: Her father, Xander, deserves to die, it's a good job she takes after her mother.

Ausrvtgr o

Shea: Well I have a person to hunt, so if you don't mind, I'll be leaving.

Pagl2td8 o

Raina: Well, last I heard he was in the dungeon, but you didn't hear that from me.

P1itvrhl o

Raina: I'll be seeing you.

Yk1xmgc2 o

Shea: See you, and thank you.

Qbuqanhj o

A few minutes later...

Shea: Killing a condemned man, seems a little unfair, but I don't mind.

Wv5cqxxz o

Gabriel: Hey, Shea!

Fbuevu21 o

Shea: I thought you were at-

0ylklm8a o

Gabriel: Crenada sent me to make sure you didn't botch this job.

Uvhhyjqu o

Gabriel: Besides, I figured you could use some help.

Sqaz2utm o

Shea: Fine come along then. I've waited long enough.

Y7vgjjpe o

Shea: Though for her to tell you about my mission, you must be close to her.

Hxmbyb2x o

Gabriel: You really had to go there didn't you?

Ltmyj9dp o

Shea: Of course I did.

Slqgbuw5 o

Shea: I also didn't think you'd be her type. Nor you her type.

Nfhwvfah o

Gabriel: Fair enough, but I didn't think you'd be Sofia's type.

X6lz8eyp o

Shea: C'mon lets go.

1wcfoeew o

Gabriel: So you're helping a kid, are you getting the budding parent feeling?

07yh7og7 o

Shea: No I became a vampire at seventeen. So I've never really got the urge to have a kid.

Nt8q9kdy o

Gabriel: Really? I think you have the right temperament for it.

Jytyupxl o

Gabriel: Well the right skills at least.

E9xeoljb o

Shea: Well the answer is still no.

Dktslugi o

Shea: Children are just problems. Liabilities.

Vz0gbmop o

Gabriel: Fair enough, but you should keep it in mind. Maybe when everything has blown over.

Xm6keyry o

Shea: You seem awfully concerned about this. Shouldn't you be talking to Crenada about this.

Hwyh75of o

Gabriel: Yeah I suppose I should be.

Ubmkpu64 o

Shea: Either that, or you're trying to hit on me.

Krcojo7q o

Gabriel: Well I'm not, I haven't hit on anyone for a long time, I think I'll have lost my touch.

Tojvggi9 o

Shea: Well lets forget about that and find this Xander guy.

4h0ps1vu o

Gabriel: Fine, yeah.

8wjymgmz o

Shea: So no more talk of children and relationships.

4s0xactk o

Shea: (This isn't going to be a fun quest.)

Kh6dooug o

Shea: (Well maybe not, but that'll have to wait.)

4lkcr0oz o

Spoiler

Shea: This is the cell the guard said, but there isn't a man in here.

Mwjq4loa o

Gabriel: Are you sure?

Uykrc6zb o

Shea: Yeah, very sure.

Jaf07stz o

Prisoner: What are you looking at?

Oaritsqg o

Prisoner: Actually I know. Xander right, he escaped from the cell on the other side a week ago. You're quite late.

5sellhvh o

Moments later...

Shea: I don't really see how he could escape from here.

Udmw6yys o

Shea: There's guards everywhere, and there's only one way in and out.

Kto2drip o

Gabriel: So we've hit a dead end?

8johi8yx o

Shea: Yeah and...wait, I hear a draft behind this wall.

N2ibv3sz o

Shea: Yarrghh!

Gxzttkh7 o

Shea: Well that explains how he got out unnoticed.

9wbldidy o

Gabriel: Good job, I couldn't even hear that.

Bweihn3f o

Shea: He must've had outside help here. It's too well prepared.

4si93j1j o

Shea: A hole to reach his things.

Cil48ehf o

Shea: And wood to burn if the weather was too bad to leave.

Lsxztns3 o

Gabriel: I'm going to have to agree. But he's long gone.

5lqhxt2g o

Shea: Over here. Look, a dust pattern where a mace was laid, gone now.

Hpn8dn2q o

Shea: Wanna see where this leads?

Hdplznw9 o

Gabriel: Right lets go.

Wlc9mrly o

A ladder climb later...

Shea: A drain on an overhang, smart.

Ydnwnvko o

Shea: And from here I can only think of one place he'd go. The Winking Skeever...where Elwyn is. Was he under our noses the whole time?

Sckdeihz o

Gabriel: Maybe so.

Zsa8wgy1 o

Shea: You're supposed to argue, not humbly agree with me.

Erzzm3lw o

Gabriel: No I'm agreeing with you, because the idea makes sense. (No other reason at all.)

Erbycqhr o

Shea: No ulterior motives, good. (Oh yeah you do.)

Juofr1rl o

A minute or so later...

???: (Staring across the inn)

Yt4dzrw7 o

Elwyn: (Looks on edge and unhappy)

W9aqhghv o

Raina: (Armed, on edge.)

Lvv7gdee o

Shea: (Well he matches the description) Hey!

Cucdbbdt o

Xander: Don't point your blade at me!

Dfs9s8ps o

Shea: Don't give me that shit, I know what you've done, I won't set aside my blade you fucking monster.

Ijzcvhg3 o

Xander: How dare you say such a thing! You are a monster yourself, I see those fangs and eyes, I'm no fool!

Ditpqtfk o

Xander: But I doubt you'll come out alive, you don't have the strength to kill me.

5hhlbhpj o

Shea: Oh I do, if you believe I don't you're a bigger fool than I thought.

P6oomfhx o

Shea: Yarrghh!

Lvgistiu o

Shea: I told you I had the strength to do it, you arrogant bastard!

Hmyfsbqz o

Shea: Oh shit...I need...to go.

Rzkcssxk o

Shea: But at least it was definitely him.

Ms2zu8i4 o

Spoiler

An hour of running from town guards and disgusted citizens later...

Shea: That...was...intense, I haven't had to run that far for a long time.

Woblv0dt o

Gabriel: Well you got the job done, but do you know the saying. "Nothing like a good fuck to clear your head for the next fight"?

Brcztxa5 o

Shea: "And nothing like a fight to get you in the mood for fucking" ? I think that's how it goes.

F8msi1uv o

Gabriel: That's the saying. Is it applicable now?

Rocyogyl o

Shea: No! I'm with Sofia and...oh fuck it.

Dmq6yldu o

A couple of minutes later...

Shea: (Fuck, what am I doing)

Zfnuo0y9 o

Gabriel: (I can't believe...I didn't think she would)

Oud82fno o

Shea: (Oh come on...well...i..it's something different)

Nt8gbtta o

Shea: Oh fuck! (God he's...new and strong.)

5iqykt5q o

Shea: Oh...mhmm. (First time I...can say I've fucked in a pile of hay)

J9wyrqfn o

Gabriel: Like that?

Ahaxh1b5 o

Shea: C'mon don't underestimate yourself now. I'm sure you've got plenty of skill.

2muxulz1 o

Shea: (Gods, the thought of somebody just walking out and see...seeing us is euphoric)

Kwybxkso o

Gabriel: (Gods, she's tight and feels...amazing.)

Egalmq8d o

Shea: (Come on! Soon it's your turn to do some work I think)

Sb6xsyqk o

Shea: Ohh!

Jhudtsgq o

Gabriel: Enjoying it?

8nzblttl o

Shea: Of course I...am (laughs)

Iigdlwuf o

Gabriel: Shh! You'll wake up the farmers.

Riseolcn o

Shea: Still more?! I don't know if I can handle this, nevermind you.

Fxwlc3is o

Gabriel: Ohh...I can.

Tx4mli5p o

Shea: (Fuck...three...times)

Nqe7qlvb o

Shea: Still more? (Gods on Nirn, I've...known...vampires to last a long time, but not this.)

X9ia2dx4 o

Gabriel: You...look confused. (I think I know why)

8akey7kb o

Shea: Fuck! Don't ask em questions...my minds awry enough!

Majjg3je o

Gabriel: Means you're...starting to like me.

Zkaaacf1 o

Shea: OH...mhmm, fuck!

Wutrtnpm o

A few minutes later...

Gabriel: So how was it?

Ce50arxd o

Shea: Good, but for the record. That was a one time thing, don't come to me everytime you get a fantasy of me.

Gmwphmwe o

Shea: Now I just have to get washed, good job we're next to a river.

4lzaasiw o

Shea: Gods that's cold!

Lkcxc9oy o

Shea: but it's the only thing I have, I don't think the farmers would accept my company.

Qrovxn8b o

Destro: You're nothing!

Fmsp8tok o

Destro: A worthless slut, to be discarded!

Jepttvob o

Shea: No why?! I mean...ye...yes master...

Wuccbepn o

Little rant: Although you split the pictures into spoiler each of them contain many pictures which took ages to open. Eva and I tried to read your blog entries but we had to give up because, unlike most of the blog entries with the large number of pictures which opens very slow, your entries are slowest. The average time for opening one spoiler is 7-10 minutes while others, similar to yours 5-8 minutes per spoiler. That's why we gave up from reading the blogs with large number of pictures. Sorry. We have no time to wait almost 30-40 minutes to be able to read one single entry.

Please, don't take this personal. I'm not criticizing you. I'm just saying that it is too bad since we like your blog and Shea. :(

The images are loading fine for me and I don't have the best Internet connection, it might be a problem on your end Prince, maybe your internet is slower then usual?

Great job with Shea and Gabriel, I like their relationship, let's see where this is leading to ;) .

Sorry to hear that, but it was use an image hoster or have issues with the Lovers Lab upload system and I chose the former. Sorry to hear you won't be reading. But I'm not uploading the jpeg for quicker loading times because they look like a potato.

All honesty though, sorry to hear you won't be reading.

Oh it's leading somewhere, not sure where, you'll just have to wait until the next chapter.

I have a technique in that kind of situation :

- open the page

- stop the loading (the button looks like a cross in most browsers, click it),

- and then just read and right click-> "refresh the image" on the place where the images you want to see would be

It's a bit tedious but that way the loading does not crashs halfway, plus you can choose to ignore the images that would be unnecessary.

It's not only a matter of connection, but also of how busy the servers are at the other end of the circuit. PNG is an unnecessarily high load for servers.

Those are JPEGs :

Do you see anything potato-like in there ? :classic_tongue:

JPEGs look bad if you don't known how to use them, and good if you do. And the more skilled you'll be using them, the smaller the data size will be while maintaining a satisfactory quality. I gave you a like to storytellers' tutorials if you want step by step explanations.

Sorry you're gonna have to suffer PNGs until Chapter 9

I'm a story lover. If I got enough time, i can work-around a lot of things provided they are worth it. However, I don't think most users will have the same patience. The thing that will suffer the most of this, is not me, but rather your blog's popularity, by losing followers you had previously, or not gaining the ones that you should given the fact that your work has improved. Only thing you're not sharing the way it should. So if i were you, I'd progressively re-upload the whole act II entries as JPEGs.

But regardless, if you've started using jpegs for chapter 9, that's already good enough for me. :classic_wink:

Besides ; I didn't comment on the entry itself, but it was good from a lot of point of views. The investigation part felt interesting, though a bit simplified at some moments. And I liked the ambiguous relationship between Gabriel and Shea. Plus the screens are amazing as always.

I think I got the line wrong oops.

But thanks for the overall comments and advice I'll make sure to implement them.

I really don't think the whole png/jpg thing is such a big deal. I always use .png when I'm below 100 images because it's worth the extra quality for me. It's 2018 almost everyone is able to load up to 100 .pngs.

And you do see potatos in my last image on the black of the top left side. This wouldn't happen in .png. I feel like black areas specifically improve a lot when using .png.

It is a big deal in two ways :

— It will require a lot of patience from average connections users to get things right.  You're not in that case, but you saw it on Daedraphiliac's entries, and now on this one. : people are complaining about issues. Maybe it gets only obvious for entries with more than 100 images/each, but that's an amount which you said yourself was easily reached. Leading to losing followers despite them loving the blog. Big deal in my eyes for a young blog, more over considering professional sites do use jpegs way more compressed than one would think.

— It's not because one's got plenty of something that it can be wasted. Would you waste water ? Do not waste bandwidth either.  The issue doing so is that it creates more load on servers than it should. And thus increases the costs, and thus... leads some of them to limit direct hotlinking in order to get at least some monetizing from what that's costing them. If you look at some Imagehosts expressing themselves about how they earn money, they say that most users do use so few resources that they can afford not to monetize them. But, if one does use more than the average, most of them do contact that individual to find "an arrangement". Or, they take drastic decisions. Such as Postimage making external linking miniatures only.

So, respectfully, I disagree about that kind of use for PNGs. :classic_wink:
