A more elegant slave collar

I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep. So I started thinking that those collars were a bit on the brutalist side of the design fence. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want for your slaves, of course, but it did get me thinking about a more elegant approach.

How about a thin band of silver, culminating in two gold fittings that mount a glass capsule containing a glowing rune declaring the slave's legal status. I have it in mind that you'd craft one of these using gold, silver, glass, and a single drop of the slave's blood. That blood is then placed in the glass capsule where it forms the letters of the word "slave" in daedric, and thereby magically seals her servitude. The whole thing looks fragile, but is of course quite unbreakable by normal means.

Although in practice you just make one at a forge and it's be like any other collar. Still the concept is important.

That's just in Blender at the moment. If it's ever going to arrive in game, I''ll need to remember how to make functional glass in Nifscope. I got it working before, so one more thing I need to scratch my head over and think "how the hell did I manage that!?" I might end up making the capsule a glowy magic field rather than a glass vial - depends on what I can get to look good.

And I might redo those runes to use ancient Falmer script. Deadric is overused, and I don't want to go all blocky-brass Dwemer, but the Snow Elves of old had a sense of elegance. So I might tie this to that aspect of the lore.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Did the letters in Falmer. It's different,  at least!

Wellp, got it in game!

The capsule needs work though. I didn't think it would be that easy!

And here it is with transparency working. I took the girl's nipple rings away so the rune would be easier to see

Picks up reflections in the glass, as well.

So, I'm thinking: wrist and ankle cuffs in the same style?

Close up in natural light. (I'll stop posting these things in a minute, promise!)

That closeup of her neck is not flattering at all, is it? It looks OK normally.

OK. So. What next?

I pasted the emitter branch from the ENB torch into the collar and it crashed the game. No surprise there. But ... the mesh needs to be (I think) a BSFadeNode, which has to be (I think) an addon.

So I'm thinking maybe take the "Slave" word there and put it into it's own nif, and mount it like the light node is for the rings. If that works it means I have an easy way to swap Deadric for Falmer if I want. It also, maybe, opens the door for other fun and games. Like having the word change to "horny" when the wearer is aroused. Or having it pulse "Fuck. Me." from time to time. (And this is why I never complete a project - feature creep from start to finish!)

Anyway, if I can do that, I can try mounting my emitter on the word mesh rather than the armor. Or do something really crazy, like mount an entire torch there and see if it still crashes. And if not, try trimming an tweaking the result until I get something that looks OK.

Something else I want to try: can I use KID to add PAH keywords to the collar without a hard depend? I want PAHRestraint and PAHRestraintLeash. If that works, I can use the collars to stop slaves from running.

[edit]

Tried the KID thing. No idea if it works yet. If I make those wrist restraints, I can add the ZaZ keywords and see if they act as cuffs. That'd be a test.

Got wrist cuffs that match.

I'm trying to use KID to add in the ZaZ keywords so they'll function as actual restrainst without needing a hard depend, but so far it's not happening.

I'll try again later.
