A more elegant slave collar
I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep. So I started thinking that those collars were a bit on the brutalist side of the design fence. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want for your slaves, of course, but it did get me thinking about a more elegant approach.
How about a thin band of silver, culminating in two gold fittings that mount a glass capsule containing a glowing rune declaring the slave's legal status. I have it in mind that you'd craft one of these using gold, silver, glass, and a single drop of the slave's blood. That blood is then placed in the glass capsule where it forms the letters of the word "slave" in daedric, and thereby magically seals her servitude. The whole thing looks fragile, but is of course quite unbreakable by normal means.
Although in practice you just make one at a forge and it's be like any other collar. Still the concept is important.
That's just in Blender at the moment. If it's ever going to arrive in game, I''ll need to remember how to make functional glass in Nifscope. I got it working before, so one more thing I need to scratch my head over and think "how the hell did I manage that!?" I might end up making the capsule a glowy magic field rather than a glass vial - depends on what I can get to look good.
And I might redo those runes to use ancient Falmer script. Deadric is overused, and I don't want to go all blocky-brass Dwemer, but the Snow Elves of old had a sense of elegance. So I might tie this to that aspect of the lore.
Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Did the letters in Falmer. It's different, at least!
