Living another life

Hi, I’m Gilfi. I grew up in Riverwood with my sister Gerdur, who’s all about family life and running the lumber mill. Good for her, I suppose. But I’ve always felt destined for something more. Faendal and Sven might have their merits, but listening to them endlessly prattle on about Camilla is utterly exhausting. So, when this ruggedly handsome guy strolled into town, dressed like a true Stormcloak, and chose to sit at my table while I was enjoying a mead at the Sleeping Giant Inn, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.

Time flew by, and before we knew it, it was nearly midnight. We were thrown out of the inn for laughing and talking so loudly that no one could hear Sven’s singing anymore. Undeterred, we carried on our conversation outside, and I have to admit, I was completely spellbound by his charm.

So, when he leaned in with a mischievous smile and asked me to follow him to the bridge, I didn’t even think twice. There was something magnetic about him, something that made the cool night air feel warmer and the quiet of Riverwood come alive. Without hesitation, I took his hand and let him lead the way.

We strolled beneath the moonlit sky and arrived at the bridge, where the stars danced on the water’s surface, casting a shimmering glow among the towering pines.

He looked into my eyes and softly told me that they were more beautiful than the stars themselves, his voice filled with warmth and admiration. With a playful grin, he then whispered that he had a surprise in store for me. My heart skipped a beat, and I could hardly contain my excitement, my mind racing with curiosity about what could possibly be waiting for me.

As my mother always used to say, “You should know better!” And she was right, I really should have. Her voice echoed in my mind, a mix of wisdom and exasperation, but in that moment, I couldn’t help brushing it aside, letting my heart overrule my better judgment.
