Sanctuary Dawn

No boobies, just a nice view of an emerging settlement.

I tried posting this on the Fo4 Reddit sub and it got bounced because "Sanctuary Dawn" and a "screenshot" flair is too click-baity. Apparently. So then I posted it with the title of "a screenshot of dawn over Sanctuary which I though people might like to look at" and that got bounced because I'd already posted the link. The mods on the sub are off their meds, I tell you.

Anyway, I wanted to share it somewhere, so here you are.

'Course, you know what they say about "Red Sky At Morning..."

I love the vivid weather mod.

I don't suppose this little gunner girl feels the same way about it :D

"Physics? What's that? Floating platforms were good enough for Mario!"

:P

I consider it payback for all the junk walls that I ought to be able snap into place and can't some reason or other.

And I mean it's not like there's nothing at all supporting it... :)

[edit]

Unless you're talking about Gunner Girl's boobs. I have no idea what's holding them up.

(and I could have sworn I posted this edit already...)

I dunno if you're already using it, but this is a permanent fixture of my fallout 4 load order:

I did for a bit, and I'm not at the moment for some reason,. My old modlist caught fire and I had to rebuild from scratch.

That said, it's ages since I last build a junk fence anyway. Turret arrays work so much better :)

I used to spend lots of effort carefully walling in my settlements, only to find that whenever I was attacked the enemies would spawn inside the walls anyway.

Turns out it - like most things - is just a hack Bethesda wrote in. Enemies spawn at fixed points, and will "move" inward toward the markers unless you immediately teleport to your settlement.

Turret towers are the way to go. Eight turrets per tower, even those crappy level-1 turrets, two or three towers per settlement, and you've got full coverage with some heavy firepower.

Fast travel to a settlement under attack, and this is what happens:

  • Timestamp 00:00: You arrive at the settlement
  • Timestamp 00:01: You hear a loud BLAART of the alarm
  • Timestamp 00:03: You hear the turrets start to fire
  • Timestamp 00:04 - 0:07: You hear a cacophony of machinegun and laser fire and the grisly sound of a horde of super mutants, gunners, etc. being chewed to pulpy mess
  • Timestamp 00:08: You hear the beep of the all-clear
  • Timestamp 00:09: You start your rounds of the settlement repairing all the generators, turrets, purifiers, food, and settlers that were swiss-cheesed by friendly fire

Less than one full second of "battle" and you're back to whatever you were doing before.

Yep, more or less the conclusion I came to. I tend to use catwalks rather than towers, but yeah. Half a dozen or so turrets covering the spawn points and job done!

Gunner cages can still get interesting, though.
