Switching to dx11 shouldn't be necessary - this was only needed back when a shader trick was used to revive a dead version of the mod. Latest version works with dx12 and ray-tracing and all that good stuff. I had the same issue as you - black screen, even after verifying files and installing the mod again - and I fixed it by verifying the files again, ensuring that the game works unmodded, and then following the steps xcalibar outlined in post 189 above from the very beginning. Important: delete any older install of the mod manager + mod. You need to install a fresh version and start the steps from the very beginning. Not sure why, but this 100% fixed it for me.

After the last time an update broke the mod, I backed up the entire installation (over 100 gigs) and I'm currently running a modded rolled back install and everything works great. HOWEVER - if you plan to do this, make sure you also have backed up versions of your saved games from BEFORE the latest update. Otherwise the game won't recognise them after you rollback and will WIPE ALL OF YOUR PROGRESS AND OPERATIVES! I thought the saved games were located in the WDL folder in My Games (just like Skyrim) and backed that folder up. But it turns out I'm an idiot and they are instead hidden away in some numbered folder in the Ubisoft launcher directory. So yeah, I can play the game modded. What did it cost? Everything.

It works! You are a legit rockstar - thank you sooooo much!!! For anyone unable to get it working - forget about the pressing spacebar method to remove shaders. Instead, go back to the beginning of the thread and follow the original steps (read up about PackLegion). All the instructions are in this thread, the only difference is now you need to also include this new mod when patching the game files to remove the new UBI underwear meshes. Thanks to @LovingSims @clod21a and @NO RECORD for all their work on modding this game ?

As mentioned in the thread already, you need to disable DX12 first to use this method. So no more ray-tracing and other modern effects, and the game itself will be broken (characters missing all sorts of body parts) due to the disappearing shaders. You may also need to disable BattlEye. Again, instructions provided elsewhere in the thread. If still not working, ensure you installed the original mod first.

No, it does not work. Ubi introduced meshes which override the textures of the mod, and the original mod author doesn't post here anymore, although they do seem to lurk from time to time ? The only way to use the mod is to follow the helpful instructions given by others above, but be prepared to sacrifice DX12 and play a broken game with invisible NPCs...

About a month ago. @NO RECORDmentioned updating the mod, but that was a month ago and they've been all quiet since - which is fair enough. I know how real life gets in the way of things. But it means we might need another solution to getting it working again. I've tried messing about in hex editors, but I'd be lying if I said I know what I'm doing and I've had no luck other than causing the game to crash. This modding business is hard! I'll be sure to leave a donation for whoever manages to get this working. It takes skills ?

Not to be a smartass, but if you simply read through this thread you'll know exactly what's happening. (Ubi broke the mod with one of their latest updates by adding near-LOD underwear meshes for some reason. It doesn't work anymore and we need a hero modder to help by find a way to remove those meshes.)

I'm still very grateful to you for sharing this, as well as for trying to help me - it's a fun way to play! ? Hopefully someone will be able to get a fully updated mod working soon. This game is highly underrated!

Okay, I discovered the problem ? This fix only works in DX11. Anyone playing in DX12 will not be able to use this.
