Apropos Widget Not Showing Up

Recommended Posts

Posted

As the title states, Apropos widgets aren't showing up, weirdly enough. I don't think Apropos itself is broken, since sometimes I can see for a split second an Apropos message showing up right as the animation starts, but rather that all the HUD and widgets so invisible upon animation start.

I suspect that it's either because of:

•Sexlab, for when the animation starts all widgets and the HUD disappears, which I assume is intentional but seems to be affecting Apropos as well.

•Sexlab Aroused Monitor Widget, for it might be a matter of conflicting widgets.

•iNeeds, for the same reason as Monitor Widget.

In any case, here's my load order.

i can only guess, so you have a variation to BUMP ;D

maybe its something that changes FOV

you could test and deactivate

- Binocular Vision Game Settings 135

- head tracking

or you switched the widges off by accident via the key provided in the apropos MCM

Posted

Thanks for the reply.

It doesn't appear to be anything that changes the FOV. Binocular Vision just makes it so that NPC's can only see at a certain FOV for when you're sneaking they don't have 360 vision and spot you around the corner.

Headtracking only makes it so the PC's head actually looks at people instead of staring off into the distance.

As for switching off the widgets, it doesn't seem to be that either. I tried running the test widget apropos thing and it started spouting some Latin bullshit or something, as can be seen here:

Spoiler

It just seems that all HUD elements, including widgets, disappear when the scene starts--as I could see the widget a moment before the scene kicks in.

Bump anniversary.

Loved that one! :classic_biggrin:

I poked a bit to see where the problem might come from, but you have a bunch of mods I do not use. So there are some clarifications to give to determine where the problem may come from:

  1. What Mod manager do you use?
  2. From what moment did the problem appear, an update? Addition of mods? Changing your mod's Load Order?
  3. Did you try to redo a new game start? Your problem may be due to scripts that do not start correctly or by having a corrupted savegame.
  4. Your Bashed Patch file is placed in the middle of your Load Order and you have a lot of mods loaded after it. Some of them are legit to load after, others not so well.
  5. You'll have to redo the Bashed Patch each time you change the Load Order, or install, update your mods, if you have not done so.
  6. You have a lot of mods that modify the game dialogs. Have you installed Fuz Ro D-oh - Silent Voice? Otherwise, do it.
  7. The Apropos mod may not have been activated correctly in your game session due to a blocked script or a corrupted installation, a setup that don't activate correctly.
  8. See if uninstalling/reinstalling iNeed - Food Water and Sleep and the Apropos mods by following the procedure described on their authors mod pages could help.

To start a new game and make sure it registers at game start might be the only way to fix it.

Glad I could amuse ^^

As for the questions:

  1. Nexus Mod Manager. I realize a lot of people frown upon it but I started with it all the way back when Skyrim first came out and I can't be bothered to try anything new.
  2. It started when I started a new game. The previous game did not have this problem. At least that I remember.
  3. Maybe. But the fact that it still showed up during the Apropos test made me think otherwise. Like I said I don't think it's a problem with Apropos itself since it effects all HUD elements and widgets and it does seem to show up for a split second before animation start.
  4. Yeah, the bashed patch. Too be honest, I don't remember ever having done that, but after coming back from a few months hiatus and saw it was enabled I kind of just left it. I remember not being a very big fan of all that, nor did I find it necessary--but I didn't want to break the game so I just left it on.

  5. I have not, no. Due to the above reasons. I'll be sure to give that a whirl once I have the time.

  6. I have installed Fuz Ro-Doh, yes.

  7. Perhaps. As I said in 3, I don't think it's a problem with Apropos itself but it's worth a shot starting a new game just in case. Didn't get very far so shouldn't be a problem.

  8. I'll be sure to do that when I have the time and report back here once I have.

But yeah, I'll make sure to update the bashed patch, uninstall/reinstall iNeed and Apropos, and start a new game to make sure it initializes at start up given the chance. I appreciate the reply! I'll report back after I've given it all a whirl.

Good! I hope for you that it gets better. When having more time - time goes too fast for my taste, I'm going to take a look at the last load of your mods concerning AS - LAL, SexLab Solutions, etc ...

The problem with installing script heavy mods is that the default Papyrus settings are not capable of handling the additional stress.
This tweak proposed by MadMansGun should increase stability, and needs to be added to the Skyrim.ini file under the [Papyrus] section.

See if these Papyrus tweaks can help you run all the scripts correctly.

Just reporting back in! Luckily, the first solution I tried was the right one. After starting a new game and not so much as opening any menus and just waiting for it all to pass, then saving and loading it again for the rest of the mods to initialize the same way, it worked.

I have an idea as to why. While I was staring at the top left of the screen watching things initialize, I noticed that iNeed popped up with something along the lines of 'Initializing, don't open the MCM menu', and a few minutes later it said I could open it. I'm assuming that I didn't notice this the first time around and upon opening the MCM menu to set the settings for all my mods, it messed with it, causing all the HUD and widget problems.

So thank you for the help! I appreciate it immensely. And for the load order and Papyrus tips and tweaks. I'll make sure to take that into future modding consideration.

Thanks again.

Great! Good reminder from you about the particular activation procedure of iNeed, well done! You can mark your thread as solved now. Have a good modding time.
