Mod Organizer Doesn't Activate Plugins In-game

Hey all, I've run into a pretty unique situation as of late considering my MO. Whenever I launch the game and attempt to load a previous save (which can only be done after cocing to qasmoke as loading from the main menu just creates an infinite loading screen), it says that all the plugins of that save game are missing (even DLC). Also, when I try to start a new game, it just does the Helgen start despite me having Alternate Life enabled on MO. I have made sure that the directories for the mods, Skyrim, and SKSE are correct, I have tried running TESV, SKSE, MO, and Skyrim launcher as administrator, but nothing helps. Any help would be appreciated.

Give this a shot.

Its the most basic way to activate your mods.

Run the Vanilla launcher from your Start Menu and not from MO.

When the first menu comes up, New, Options, Data, etc, click on Data and scroll to the bottom making sure that everything is checkmarked.

I thought I better add a disclaimer.

I don't use MO to install or launch my game.

Yeah I've made sure that it's less than 255 plugins. The game would have just crashed on startup if more than 255 plugins were loaded though, but that doesn't happen so it's safe to say that my plugin amount isn't screwed up at all.

In this case you may have a problem with a bad setup install of your game and/or your MO mod manager. You will have to check the following:

1. What is your hardware configuration and which operating system version do you use?
2. How did you install your game? Ditto for MO? And in which directories?

3. Do you have your Anti-Virus software that prevents MO from working properly?
4. Have you gone from NMM to MO without having put your Skyrim game and .ini files back to the original vanilla state?
5. Did you perform the correct initialization procedure through Steam after installing the game, ie to set up and run the game once in a clean vanilla state without any mods and before installing MO and all the tools you use?

6. Are all the working paths directory correctly set for MO and for the tools you use?

7. Can TES5Edit read all your installed plugins?

8. You cannot install SKSE as a mod via MO as then SKSE scripts will not load. You can install SKSE scripts as a mod in MO.
9. Have you changed your game profile in MO and/or loading order of plugins during your game session?

10. Are you trying to start a previous saved game while you have created or selected another game profile in MO?

11. Have you set your character saves as profile dependent?

Be aware that to launch a modded game correctly, you'll have to run it only within MO and with SKSE selected. Switching between the initial launcher and MO several times is not recommended because it can lead to synchronization problems between vanilla and MO .ini files if you change them in the meantime, especially when using different profiles in MO.

When installed in an UAC protected directory - a non-recommended installation method, by the way, the entire Skyrim folder needs to have the Read and Write access in the authenticated user group to be allowed in order to have your modded game to run well.

Please post your ModOrganizer.ini file located in the Mod Organizer folder.

Not when you've installed your mods via MO as they are put in the Mod Organizer virtual folder by default and not in the Skyrim game data folder, so they will never be seen as such when you run the game via the Skyrim launcher: only the files in your Skyrim folder and the data folder will be loaded into your original game.

When your plugins number are going beyond this limit in it's own working folder, MO will not simply load them at all.

verify MO is pointing to the correct directories, I have custom directories for downloads, mods ect and sometime MO freaks out and acts like is the first time running, I have to then go in and repoint it to my custom directories. Disable and re-enable " run as administrator" for all users and if using windows 10 make sure its not blocked because it came from another computer

Sorry for the late reply, went hiking. Here is the MO.ini. I have my MO and Skryim installed to my Seagate Expansion Drive so it shouldn't be UAC protected at all. All the directories are also in the right place. I haven't switched profiles at all and I don't have local savegames enabled. I installed my SKSE manually to my Skyrim folder, and everything with MO was working perfectly just a week or so ago so I dunno what could've happened. It probably started after I installed a few mods with MO but I deactivated those and I still get this problem so I don't think it was a problem with those mods I installed (or maybe it was, shit, i dunno).

ModOrganizer.ini

Thanks for posting your .ini file.

You are using MO2 and have personally stayed on version 1.3.11 so it's hard to compare our two respective ModOrganizer.ini files as they are somewhat different, but I could see something unusual:

Spoiler

Try to enable .bsa support and management in MO2, maybe that's where your problem comes from.
Go to the "Archives" tab in the right MO main pane and select "Let MO manage archives".

Reading the descriptive page of MO2 I could see that the management of the prioritization of bsa is no longer valid at present, but it concerns the management of archives in "loose file" format if I understand it well. See if what I showed you in the spoiler can be activated.

Otherwise, it would be best to read the FAQ and Sticky posts on the Nexus mod thread directly as you have the latest version installed.
See also if the problem does not come from your Anti-virus or a Win10 update (if you have this version of OS), you never know.

greetings from 2022. necropost be damned because i spent two hours googling for answers and none of these threads anywhere on any site had it. done with that and people who think necroposting is bad.

my problem with this was solutionized by setting gameName to Skyrim Special Edition in modorganizer.ini

because it decided to just go with Skyrim even after it made me search for the path for it manually.
