PlayingOneHanded Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Since yesterday my game won't start anymore. I start the game and after 2 seconds of blackscreen an error pops up saying that Fo4 stopped working. It doesn't matter if I have mods enabled or not or if I start the game over F4SE Launcher. I even reinstalled the whole game and all mods but it didn't help. The only way to get the game running is by setting it to borderless windowed mode at 800x500. If I then end the game via taskmanager I can set the resolution up to 1920x1200 but then the game will only run on like 1FPS. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Invictusblade Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 i am not sure, but this can sometimes work, rename your folders inside Data - Meshes to Meshes_2 (DO NOT DELETE) and see if it works otherwise maybe there is something wrong with your config files
Ashra XIII Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 If you re-install the game, try it before installing any mods to see if the base game at least can work on its own. If not, you either have some sort of driver incompatibility, or you may have lingering issues with a .INI file. Instead of just re-installing the game, make sure you delete or rename the Fallout 4 directory as well as the folder under My Documents that keeps .INI files and saves.

When I freshly reinstalled it it worked but I don't want to play this game vanilla and like I said a couple of days ago the game ran just fine.
Invictusblade Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 we are not telling you to play the vanilla game. what we are asking you is to load the game without mods and then slowly reintroduce mods slowly until you find the problem unless it fails to load without mods.

I don't blame you! I could never play this game vanilla again. But as Invictaxe said, loading it up in a vanilla state is the first thing you need to do in order to prove you have a stable game. Since you say the game does work vanilla, what you should probably do next is install F4SE, then launch the game through that to make sure it's still working. If that works, well... start loading mods, maybe 4 or 5 at a time, until things break again. Then narrow it down from there.
PlayingOneHanded Posted May 2, 2018 Author Posted May 2, 2018 I found the problem! I disabled all mods but tha game still crashed and then I remembered that I also installed modifications which aren't mods. The Mod Dynamic Performance Tuner and Load Accelerator (which is an alternative to the no longer supported shadowboost) caused the crash so I deleted it and now the game runs. Thanks for your help guys !
