Can't Start A New Game

[Darkening Demise]

I tried starting a new game after reinstalling FO4. Got a bunch of mods I used before too.

Sadly the loading icon plays at the main menu and nothing happens 5 minutes later. Only thing I can do is alt+f4.

I tried going into LOOT and sorting things while checking for errors and nothing was wrong according to it.

That load order is too much for tired eyes to check, but do you have any texture optimization mods in that list? Its a known issue with some texture mods that because the textures are not the right dimensions that they cause the game engine to have to resample them, in a one-use temp fashion, on each load up of the game. And if your texture mod is ALL game textures, its been known to take up to 30 minutes for that process to conclude. And even then, it only counts for that gaming session - the next time you load up the game, it will do it again.

 

Best to avoid texture optimization mods altogether if you are in fact using one.

if it still doesn't start then turn off all of the mods and start it (if it fails here, then you have other problems)

and turn them back slowly until you find the broken mod

 

also maybe swap Another Life with StartmeUp.

check armorsmith and or weaponsmith extended if you installed it wrong it may explain the crashes your getting also from what i read weapon smith is not comaptible with alternate starts mods. So try by first disabling armor and weaponsmith and see if you still crashes ??

I got it to work just installed TOP through NMM and then uninstalled it. Then Installed OVT which makes things work and play more smooth. But my next issue comes from the console which is acting weird. It seems to have the | constantly jitter back and forth deleting anything I type in so I cannot use the console. Going to assume its a console mod I'll look into it.
