Also know that just uninstalling/unchecking a mod does not always remove or disable the data changes it made on installation. It's been years that I have not used NMM, but that's what I remember. Since then I have remained faithful to MO.

You can also check plugin section in NMM because this show you all esm./esp linking with mod. Loot is helpfull. Check FNIS ofcourse. Download manualy and open zip as folder, second window with data and manulay remove all files one by one and check it one by one. Im doing it this way if Im in armor instal madness and cant find in bodyslide studio what Im usin in game or what is just another useless stuff. And If you find any mod changing something with HDT/skeleton/racemenu.plugins/main quest line then be carefull or dont unninstal.. Be carefull if you want uninstal DD mods because they had something like requirements chaining. And after you finnish ,clean your savegame. I think you dont need to be scary just this cost time and its boring.

This is the reason people use a mod manager. You could try installing the mod through a manager and then uninstalling it.
