Invisible Mesh after Switching Slots

Recommended Posts

Posted

I followed the instructions and tried to change the item slot for a jewellery from leah lilith (runawaychoker), from amulet to item slot 55.

However, when ever I tried to do that, it simply just fails and still becomes invisible.

I changed the Biped Slots from both, Armor/ArmorAddon/BDIDisembeerinstance(whatever it is) all to 55.

I've done like this in the past in the same way to another amulet from the same mod (stay forever collar) and it worked and still works whilst being in slot 55. For some reason it doesnt work this time no matter what I try.

So uhh, can someone tell me what I did wrong?

You changed the slot in the mesh...ok, but did you also changed the slot in the mod's plugin with TES5Edit ?!? If not you have to change that too, for both entries, Armor and Armor Addon.

In the CK (creation kit) you have to open the .esp for the armor piece and change the slots for the armor and armor addon to match the slot/slots you changed it to in the nifs.

Yes like I've said I've changed them. 100% positive. Double triple quadruple checked them.

I've found out the problem though, I'm just not sure how to fix it.

It has to do with nifskope, for some reason the changed partition in BSDismemberSkin probably doesn't get saved. The reason I think so it's because I've tried to convert BSDismemberSkin node into NiSkinInstance as a potential fix suggested by someone years back. (which didnt fix the problem, still invisible)

So i tried to revert the .nif file back to the original and when I expanded the nodes it still showed NiSkinInstance instead of the original BSDismemberSkin node. As if nifskope suddenly hardcoded the last edit and doesn't wanna revert it back even though I re-overwrote the file with the original one.

So to make it even clearer this is what happens

>open file (.nif)

>change line A to B (BSDis to NiSki)

>doesn't work (armor still invisible)

>try revert A back to B by replacing file with a backup (overwrite/delete&replace with original backup)

>open now original unedited file (original .nif)

>line is still B (still NiSki)

Ahh now I see where you are messing up. You are changing stuff in the wrong area.

1.) Open nif.

2.) Make sure block details is open and not block list.

3.) Click armor piece then underneath the highlighted line to the left look for BSDismemberSkinInstance.

4.) Click arrow next to BSDismemberSkinInstance to get the drop down.

5.) Go to Partitions and click arrow for drop down 2X.

6.) Select bone node you want to use.

7.) repeat for all pieces till done then save as to overwrite the nif and then repeat for the other nif.

No, I've done that before resorting to converting BSDis to NiSki. And it didn't work like I've said in the OP. : (

Then something must be wrong. If you change the slot in the say Aire Earrings.nif to SBP_55_MOD_FACE_JEWELRY and then load up the .esp in the creation kit and do that to the same thing to the armor and armor addon and then overwrite the .esp then it should work also make sure that you are turning off any other slots that are active if they are not needed.

You can also check under race and make sure it's set to default race for the armor and armor addon as I have seen before with DEM armors where the author changed the default race to alduin race so even with the slots were set correctly the body and stuff would be invisible.

Also you are not trying to alter the _go.nif nif right? The _go.nif is the nif used for when you drop the item on the ground so that it appears on the ground instead of disappearing.

You are probably not doing anything wrong. I've had this same issue with the CHH / CHHH shoe mod and from what I remember other people had the problem as well. The shoes are modular and one of the parts is on slot 52 which conflicts with SOS, and changing the slot causes that part of the shoe to become invisible. I never followed up to find out if someone found a solution but you might get lucky.

'Aight I give in.

I've actually found a solution last night but the fix is so ghetto I wouldn't call it a real solution but if it works it ain't stupid ehi.

So this is I guess for anyone in the future that encounters the same problem AND with symptoms like mine, where if you for example, change the nodes in the .nif and then try to revert it just won't or similar; where it seems the goddam .nif file hardcoded suddenly or sth... Then do this

>Cut and paste original .nif files onto desktop

>Edit partition number to whatever slot you need

>Save

>Delete all edited .nif files etc from your game folder if you still have (not the one you just edited from desktop)

>(imagine taking out an organ from a body and transferring it to a safer location for surgery)

>Restart Computer

>Paste edited .nif from desktop to game folder

>Voila

The reason this works is because a temporary file was created that prevented certain changes in the .nif file to take place. WEIRD SHIT for a noob like me really Q_Q
