Hello! I’m creating a follower for myself and almost everything works fine but there’s one thing that just makes it look not good.

The skin color of the head doesn’t match with the body. Anyone know how to fix this?

Are you using CK to make it? If so, in CK you need to import your follower npc file (my follower.npc) this is in the character gen parts tab. That's the only way I know to fix it.

If you don't know how to make a npc file of your follower or char the process is as follows: in-game open console command "`", then click on your char or follower you want to make a npc file, and then type "spf name of your follower or char". Example: spf my follower, and then hit enter. It'd appear like nothing happened but the file has been created. They place themselves in the Skyrim/Data folder.

I hope this helps you.

Yeah, I use CK. It says in the title too ^^;

I use MO, so I assume it goes to the overwrite folder?

I don't know with MO but you can use the search option to find it in your MO folder. What you typed after "spf" will be the name of your file. If they are not there, then search on your skyrim/data

Have you exported the face gen data for the follower in the CK? If you select them in the Actors window (just make sure they're highlighted) and press ctrl + f4 you should get a confirmation window pop up. Confirm and it will export their face meshes and textures, probably to the Overwrite folder.

A few things to watch out for:

  • If the CK tells you the data was exported instantly (as in, the Done message appears instantly as you click to confirm the export) then it's lying to you and hasn't done anything. Try it again until it takes a small amount of time and actually does it. Should only be a second or so for one actor, just a slight delay.
  • The head mesh it exports might need to be opened in nifskope and linked to hair textures manually if you use a non-vanilla hairstyle. Sometimes, for some reason, it doesn't have the right textures set.
  • If you do this with any high resolution tint masks/make up/skin textures installed at the time you may find all the make up and paints are pasted across the character's forehead in a solid stripe in-game. Export the data with any mods like that disabled. The CK can't handle high resolution textures like that.

This has always fixed the grey face bug for me.

No that file will be in Skyrim folder, done the same my self and uses MO.

Yeah, they could be in the skyrim folder... not in skyrim/data... sorry I don't have it clear. But search in both folders to make sure.
