crazer776 Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 So I recently Came across the Succubus queen armor in skyrim and I really really like the horns but they're attached to the entire set. https://imgur.com/QWf1cGQ Is there some way to take the horns themselves and make it just its own armor piece for the head. I thought maybe i could take the files and move them to another mod that had horns and just replace files in nifskope but that didn't really work. Lookin for some help
crazer776 Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 Edit: So I managed to get rid of the other parts of the armor and the only thing that remains is the horns but the body is invisible. I think I just need to maybe turn the armor piece into a piece just for the head but not sure.
SleepyJim Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 If the horns are their own branch within the nif it would be fairly simple. You could right click on all the other branches of the nif and select "remove branch" until only the horns are left. You can then change the slot they use by expanding the branch, selecting BSDismemberSkinInstance and then expanding partitions (twice) in the Block Details section at the bottom of the nifskope window. You can edit the set slot from whatever it is (probably the body slot, 32, in this case) to whatever you want it to be. If you're looking to replace horns from another mod you'd need to select the same slot as them. Do all of this for both the _0 and _1 nifs, rename them to replace the ones you want to override, and be sure to install their textures as well. Edit - after your last post, if you've got rid of everything else already just changing the slots should work.
crazer776 Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Thanks so much. I never knew you had to go into the meshes in nifskope and change the slot placements there also. Its working now
myuhinny Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Slots must match in 3 different spots 1 in the BSDismemberSkinInstance for both nifs but also in the .esp/esm the slots must be the same for the armor piece and armor addon. You can also just load the nifs up into nifskope click the piece go to the BSDismemberSkinInstance line below the highlighted line and right click it and go to block - convert - NiSkinInstance. What this does is it removes the slots from the nifs for that piece so the outfit will use whatever slots you picked for it in the .esp/.esm instead. Just make sure that you do it for both the _0 and the _1 nif then save as to overwrite them and make sure you do it to all armor pieces in the nif.

I think I may need to do this also because while its works, Its fighting for some kind of slot spot with mod armors and un-equipping them when it gets put on. It doesn't do this with vanilla armors though All of the esp positions are all in the same spot, I have this armor put in 42-circlet unless there's a better one that won't un-equip stuff that armors normally use Edit: ...okay it "was" working with vanilla armors and now its not. It seems to be fighting with the body slot 32 I think, which is what it was originally. I tried converting and that didn't seem to work though. This: https://imgur.com/63M6FmD is the correct converting place right? I don't know if these files need to be deleted or something https://imgur.com/tTlz44u
myuhinny Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Change all the slots to SBP_35_AMULET then you'll be able to wear it with everything but a necklace or you can change it to SBP_40_TAIL but this one would conflict with beast races if you are using one.
crazer776 Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Hmm... even as an amulet its still taking off armor Edit: Now I'm really confused. It worked with another mod armor and then I took that armor off and On in game and it didn't work anymore with any armor.
myuhinny Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 You must change the slots for the _0 nif the _1 nif then open it's .esp/.esm and change it's slots for the armor and also change the slots for the armor addon. If a armor has other armor pieces in it then those will have to be changed as well. All slots in the _0 _1 nif the armor piece and armor addon in the .esp/esm must match or nothing will change in game.
crazer776 Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Yeah I've changed both the esp and the meshes _______________________________ ESP: https://imgur.com/oof4PQc _______________________________ Nifs: https://imgur.com/8W3pGxN _______________________________ These are the only two meshes in the folder and I deleted the rest of the meshes in the ESP leaving only the Cuirass (which is meshes with only the horns, I deleted the rest). As for the other mods that are getting taken off, none of them have a slot in 42-circlet, so I have no idea. Final Edit: Okay so I actually just moved the file branch to a different mods branch which was a horn specific mod and with the changed meshes it works just fine. Thanks for the help
myuhinny Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Did you use TES5edit or the CK (creation kit) to alter the slots? To me it looks like you altered it using TES5edit. I always alter slots using the CK (creation kit). Fire up the CK (downloadable and installable from steam) then select the .ESP/.ESM and select set as active and let it load 2 errors will eventually pop up click yes to all for both. Once it loads click items + to open drop down and go down to armor and click the word armor to bring up all armors and go through the list till you find the one you need items added by the mod will have a * in the count bracket. Double click the name of the armor to bring up the edit screen go to biped object and change the slots there then hit ok and then click the word armor addon and do the same as you did for the armor piece then go up and click the save button to overwrite the save file then close the CK and try again.
