SPIRITHUNT3R Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Hiya everyone. Ive never played Skyrim before, but looking at the mods and gameplay on here has caught my attention... lol My question is this .......... What version of Skyrim do I need to buy/download, to start with, and do I need Steam to play the game? Happy gaming everyone, and thanks for reading this post.
MorePrinniesDood Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 You need Steam to start with. It's the only legal way to get Sykrim on PC, and we don't support less-than-legal copies here. You probably want "Oldrim", the original 2011 release if you want sex mods. Most are still in the process of being ported to Special Edition, some may never be. It's hidden on Steam, but you can find it here.
Fifoo Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 The ElderScrolls V: Skyrim exists in several versions and requires activation via the Steam client. Be aware that pirated versions of the game will inevitably lead to operating problems with mods, and LoversLab does not tolerate the use of such versions. You will need to download Steam and create an account if you have not already done so. Unfortunately Steam only offers the Skyrim: SE (Skyrim Secondary Edition) version by default in its game library currently.Know that you will need a PC powerful enough to run this version of the game and that for the moment there are not as many mods proposed as for the old version, Skyrim: LE (Skyrim Legendary Edition). This is due to it's relative youth. If you want to install Skyrim: Legendary Edition (version 1.9.32.0), buy either a DVD new, I insist: it is imperative that the game is new in order to be validated by Steam, if you buy the game used and it has already been activated by the seller you will encounter problems and will not be able to activate it properly. You can also purchase the game on digital media through legitimate sites to obtain a validation key that you activate on Steam. Cracked KeyGen do not work well with mods! As I told you earlier. Do not come crying after if you ignore this recommendation. If you want to follow my advice, I would suggest that you first buy the Legendary Edition before choosing to install Skyrim: SE. This will save you from buying it twice, because once the old version is installed Steam will offer you this new version for free, the opposite is not true.

But are you sure this isn't the normal old Skyrim instead? You will have to purchase all the DLC then... Edit: Confirmed, this is the Normal Edition. When searching for Legendary Edition Steam return this message: "No results for this query".

Legendary Edition's completely gone from Steam now. You'd have to buy any DLC you want for Oldrim separately.

Think that was a limited time thing when SE first launched, fairly sure there's it's not a free upgrade anymore. On the plus side, Legendary will get yer access to 51k mods as opposed to SE's rather tiny 10k. And that's just from Nexus, when yer factor in all the mods on this site, steam workshop and the various blogs and far east websites....yeaaaah. Oldrim also means yer won't have to put up with the Creation Club, but shhhhhh.....we dunt talk about that.
SPIRITHUNT3R Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Thank you all for your replies and advice. Thanks for correcting my previous statement, I wasn't aware of this limited time offer on Steam: Own Skyrim + All DLC? Get Skyrim Special Edition for FREE. Status: This offer is no longer valid. It would have been better if I checked this information before giving it. I'm really sorry, people. Happy gaming to you SPIRITHUNT3R.

Sladen2019 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 You can still buy the Legendary version which comes with all of the official DLC from various CD key sellers online. They will give you a Steam key which you can enter into Steam to activate the download. Here is one example, Kinguin has it for $14.68 https://www.kinguin.net/category/1231/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-legendary-edition-steam-key/ The Special Edition can still be bought from the main Steam store. It can also be bought from the other stores for usually cheaper. You can have both installed at the same time if you choose. Every once in awhile Steam has a sale with a much lower price. Check often.
