To change an item's slot you need to edit a few things:

 

In the creation kit, or TES5Edit, you'll need to load the mod's esp, find both the Armor and Armor Addon record for the item and change the slot associated with them to the one you want. Then, using nifSkope, you'll also need to change the slot of the mesh (or meshes if it has both _0 and _1 weight meshes) to use the same slot, if the mesh(es) had a slot assigned (most, but not all, of them do.)

 

There's an old tutorial I first used to learn how to do it here, though unfortunately it looks like the images no longer display. Found a loverslab topic about it which might help as well:
