Live-in Maid Service

Currently, the mod has progressed to a stable phase where I created an additional maid service. So the Vanilla services are preserved. It still needs more testing and suggestions and feedback are welcome. Here are the current features. 

 

• Maid can be assigned a bed through "Assign bed to servants" option, I changed the assign a bed to butler choice. Now it brings up the NPC selection window and the maid should be one of the options. 

 

• The maid should perform autonomous actions as I deleted appropriateness restrictions for this service.  I also added some idle autonomous actions like watching TV so that the maid doesn't stand around waiting for stuff to clean. 

 

• The maid job uniform is turned off so you can use CAS through cheats or MCCC to edit the regular outfits the Maid will wear.

Awesome mod! I was able to hire a maid and have a full time servant. Only one thing didn't work.  After assigning a bed to the maid the selection window to did not pop up for me to pick whether she would sleep in it.

 

After playing with the mod for more time I noticed an issue.  I asked the maid to hang out.  After the maid finished hanging out she left my lot.  I canceled the service I that was still active.  Hiring the maid again didn't work after that until I restarted my game.

 

Is it possible for me to change the outfit of the maid?  Maybe it's fairly obvious but I am pretty to sims 4 and modding it.

I think asking her to hang out still defaults to her ending her service as if she's a 9-5 maid. She says "I'll stop working now I guess" or something along that line, indicating she's going to end her shift early to hang out.  I'm looking into making the full-time maid a separate service in the next version and cutting out all the part-time worker issues. It will still be the same maid so you won't be able to hire another one. Although that may be possible if I make new NPC generation files. There are some issues with hiring multiples of the same type of service NPC that result in 2-3 new NPCs and so you'll end up with rotations of different characters rather than one specific sim. I think the previous modder made the mistake of allowing you to hire from the same service character pool and that's what caused that issue. Well, that's planned for later, right now I'll focus on getting everything working with just 1 maid. 

Yes, you can change the outfits if you use testingcheats and SHIFT+click the maid, select CAS edit. 

Not sure why the selection window didn't pop. It was showing up for me when I tested it initially. I'll have to take a look.

• Made the Live-in Maid a new hireable service, separate from the base game maid services. 
• Removed notifications about your home being cleaned while you were away, as that's only relevant to scheduled and one time services you weren't there for. 
• Mirrored service changes to include Appartments. 

Still needs further testing. So feedback on mod performance is welcome.

• Fixed mod files referencing vanilla maid service attributes
• Deleted maid service appropriateness blocks for Live-In maid service; the maid should now bathe and sleep, as well as do some other autonomous things.

Hi great mod and thanks for your work. I should start this with saying a use a lot of mods on my game so not 100% sure this is down to your mod or the fact I have a conflict with another one. After I come back to the lot from travelling to another place I have to rebook the maid for her to turn up. She doesn't seem to re-spawn. Is this just my game or is anyone else having this happen to them?

She shouldn't leave as a full-time service NPC unless you fire the maid. I'll have to do some more testing tomorrow.

Yeah, it was my fault for not noticing that earlier but thanks for bringing it up. This is why I need people giving me feedback as there's a lot of things that can go wrong with this mod. I thought it would be a pretty simple mod but when all is said and done, making an entirely new service, even an extension of one, is quite a bit of work. There's a lot more to polish out and test. 

Anyway, several Redbull and 2 days later I've finally figured out what was missing and causing the issue. The maid should now stay working as a maid and not leave the lot. Previously the game removed the maid from the job situation due to a sim-time timeout. Turns out it has nothing to do with time, the fix for the issue that is. That's just what the game spit out as the cause of the problem and so it took me a while to solve.

Where do I get to the "assign bed to servants" option?

It should show up when you click a bed and the maid or butler is there.

Great mod. Only problem I'm having is after assigning the maid a bed, she will not use it. She works all day, watches tv when idle then gets up and passes out on the floor when tired and will not use any bed that is assigned to her. Im using the latest version of your mod and also latest versions of WickedWhims, Wicked Worker and MCC and my game is upto date. No other cc or script mods. Any ideas? Thanks.

Weird! o.o I got her to use the bed I assigned to her by using my vamp magic to reduce her rest need. She went straight to the bed. Is it a CC bed? Anyone else claim it?

You know what? I think it is a cc bed that has been in my game for ages and totally forgotten about. I'll take it out and try again. Thanks for that quick reply

Tried this out.  I've gotten as far as hiring and firing about half a dozen maids, because the game keeps generating male maids. 

 

I guess I could console cheat edit them, but eh.

Yeah, the game is random in that regard. That's some terrible luck though, considering it's 1:1 odds.

So far all of my maids and butlers have been female. (about 8 total) I guess I've been lucky. The only problem I have had with the maid is that she seems to spend a lot of time watching TV or reading. I don't remember her doing any work. Maybe in the future there will be a menu to command her to clean up or make beds etc.. But I can't complain, the mod is working for me. Thank you FG13 for a couple great mods.

Same problem here, i hope it will get fixed in a update.

 

The only time she "sleep" (for 2 sec), she changed in the sleep outfit and now she don't get it off, she's stuck in it.

Thanks for creating this mod I enjoy playing with it. I hope in your next upgrade the maids can perform more tasks other than just mopping and washing dishes. The babies would cry their lungs out and the maids wouldn't do anything but sitting around reading books and watching TV. I wish they can perform as many tasks as butlers do.

She should change into her uniform outfit as it's a full-time job. As far as not eating make sure your furniture like the fridge and stoves aren't custom content, as that may be why they aren't eating. Check the doors to make sure your servants aren't locked out from the kitchen, that could be a problem as well. I've been playing other stuff and haven't worked on the mod in a while. Need to update my files and test things out, make sure nothing broke with new content patches. I don't think it has as it's not a tuning mod tweaking game mechanics but who knows. ?‍♂️
