BloodberrySmoothie Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Since we already have an Anime thread, why not a Manga thread as well? The reasons for making a separate thread is simply that often the Anime is really different from the Manga What kind of Manga do you like? Feel free to discuss or recommend something (tell us why!). ____________________________________________________________ Last year I read Inu x Boku Secret Service, which was a really refreshing change in all those countless Manga I read, because while it was a shoujo, the main characters are not too clichee (which I got really sick of lately) and really hillarious and plot was really great and complex. I crave more of this high-quality content but it's hard to find Spoiler Ririchiyo Shirakiin is the sheltered daughter of a renowned family. With her petite build and wealthy status, Ririchiyo has been a protected and dependent girl her entire life, but now she has decided to change all that. However, there is just one problem—the young girl has a sharp tongue she can't control, and terrible communication skills. With some help from a childhood friend, Ririchiyo takes up residence in Maison de Ayakashi, a secluded high-security apartment complex that, as the unsociable 15-year-old soon discovers, is home to a host of bizarre individuals. Furthermore, their quirky personalities are not the strangest things about them: each inhabitant of the Maison de Ayakashi, including Ririchiyo, is actually half-human, half-youkai. But Ririchiyo's troubles have only just begun. As a requirement of staying in her new home, she must be accompanied by a Secret Service agent. Ririchiyo's new partner, Soushi Miketsukami, is handsome, quiet... but ridiculously clingy and creepily submissive. With Soushi, her new supernatural neighbors, and the beginning of high school, Ririchiyo definitely seems to have a difficult path ahead of her. Beware, this has an Anime as well that is missing almost the entire plot. Can't recommend.
sarahsenpai Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 i read azumanga daioh when i was a kid. i also have kuragehime but havent started on it yet.
Angrybird Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Coming of age story was cat street, really enjoyed the characters growing. Also enjoyed Sanctuary for the manly tears, in the same vein Sun-ken rock is fast-food version of the same, Gokusen is also good but it's more focused on romance there's an anime but it isn't finished. My absolute favorite would be Angel Densetsu a mix of comedy/coming of age the art in the first few chapters may put you of but it gets better.
DaBigMunny Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Anything Junji Ito is going to be great, if only for the art alone. Watamote is probably one of the best out there, for the pure schadenfreude it inflicts, and Please Tell Me, Galko Chan has the double threat of interesting colors and cute girls. Parasyte is classic, it's The Thing as a manga, and Monster Mususme... who doesn't love cute monster girls?
