what is the meaning of saving a femalebody_1.dds Diffuse map as DXT1 or as DXT5 or as A5G5R5 and which one leaves my diffuse just as it was?

Mipmaps are progressively smaller textures saved as layers in the texture file. You know when you turn the texture quality down? That tells the game to use smaller mipmaps.

Stock texture=4096x4096, MipMap 1= 2048x2048, mipmap 2= 1024x1024, mipmap 3=512x512, and so on.

Do not use ENB as ENB is poorly coded and Boris Vorontsov is a narcissistic douchebag anyway.

ENB is literally the worst thing you can install in Skyrim lmfao no joke

It sounds like you're biased against Boris for some reason, but I have no idea what kind of person he is and I don't care. A good ENB increases graphics quality by a lot, to the point where it becomes a modern game. I can't even look at vanilla Skyrim anymore without laughing. Its washed out colours and flat lighting just doesn't do the game justice. It's worth a 15 fps loss to have that kind of eyecandy. But the filters are often overpowered by default, so I set them to low quality to increase performance. I can play on 30 fps with ambient occlusion enabled in outdoor areas, and that works for me.

DXT is a type of DirectDraw compression; DXT1 does not save alpha as an alpha channel but rather as 0,0,0 RGB pixels. DXT3 and DXT5 both have support for pure alpha channels.

Things like glow maps and skin for SSK should be saved as DXT1, but weapons, armor, and clothing for games like Skyrim and Oblivion should be saved as DXT3 or 5.

The problem with vanilla texture quality was terrible DXT compression that was rewritten many times.

For best quality, don't save with DXT compression, for best performance and memory, save as DXT5.

I personally use GIMP, and save as DXT5 with mipmaps.

Why should you save a body texture with no alpha information as DXT5? Doesn't that just make it bigger and more demanding than it has to be? What I've learned is that the textures need to be visible with the big icons view in explorer. If it shows a photoshop icon(that's what I'm using) it's not saved right. Can't remember what the correct settings were though.

what can you tell me about WeightColorByAlpha?

WeightColorByAlpha

That uses the strength of the alpha channel for saturation. Don't use it.

Honestly Paint.net is ill suited for game modding, GIMP or Photoshop have better tools and a straighter learning curve. Paint.net is better suited for professional photo editing, not texturing. While some people do use it for game mods I'd have to argue that GIMP and/or photoshop are better.

Give GIMP a try, I use it and love it.

This.

That looks terrible, the fog distance is awful, reflections are way too blurred, it's too dark, there's no bloom, and those distant trees look like absolute shit

Also, that sharpen filter looks like aged fromunda cheese.

and your distant trees don't look like absolute shit?

didn't pick mods for my game to match x taste, don't care if x don't like this or that

180123071340109864.jpg

above it's the same absolute shit as your and his tree lods, maybe

here it's better shit than what i use

180123071341475499.jpg

but can't use that, need lods for tamriel reload and enderal trees

18012307504116960.jpg

result was so crappy i had to do something about it

tree1 use tree2 lod, tree 4 use tree 3 lod... (less trees, the ones left become less smaller)

180123080303846061.jpg

it's just lods, that's good enought

Looks better than yours...I have my game forced to use full models. That means no LODs.

THat last screenshot hurts my eyes to look at, those trees are the wrong species

The first is not the same at all lmfao

don't care

you can see how crappy that tamrieltreelod.ds is looking at the lods far way?
what's the point to render those waterfall at full resolution when i am in whiterun?
you can see how markarth windwill look so much better with its flag isfulllod?
giving flag isfulllod isn't worth it

180124123919524312.jpg

not the same as vanilla tree?

it look better, that's the only thing i care about

180124123911206288.jpg

only problem i had with that one, walking in the bark, uv map mismatch right of my char, branch texture

you don't care about your tree dark in the shadow?

180124123910137986.jpg

shadows so strong it become dark, or keeping it green, i go green

You have black bodies after using TexBlend because this "program" does not create mipmap

do I also get Gray Glossy body from using Texblend on my specular

aswell as Black Crystal body from Texblending Normals because

it does not create mipmaps for the two?

Most likely. Try using GIMP with the DDS plugin. It's what I use and I've never had problems.
