Objects shadows appearing through character

Hi,

I'm having a weird issue that I can't solve. Here's an imgur illustrating my problem.

I don't know if it's obvious enough but you can see in screenshots that the foreground objects shadows are appearing on my character (like the jars).

This is not caused by my ENB I think because if I disable it, the issue persists. I've also tried to disable all mods that can alter my character textures (Bathing in Skyrim, Wet Function Redux). The bug happens only on my character, not on NPCs.

You can't see on screenshots by when this happens, my character's brows and beard disappear too.

What I only achieve to figure is that if I cast a Skin Spell (like Stoneskin), my character goes back to normal (no "transparancy" and brows/beard are back), but if I wait for the spell to fade AND THEN change my weapons, the glitch just reappears.

I'm now starving for any ideas to solve it so I'm asking help now. :frown:

Thanks !

P.S : I could make a quick video to illustrate in case it's not clear enough with the screenshots.

Edit : forgot to mention that my .INI have been generated by BethINI and I didn't touched it after as far as I can remember.

Edit 2 : video

Edit 3 : "blinking" character

If you deactivate mods (WET etc.) you have to clean up the save game because the scripts are still active.
With Shift + F12 you can disable / enable ENB - deinstallation is not necessary.
With Shift + F4 you can clean up the VRam.

If after deactivating mods the effect does not disappear - open RaceMenu with console command showracemenu and save your character again.

Yes, I cleaned my saves every time I tried. Cleanup VRAM doesn't do anything. And showracemenu does not solve the issue. When in character edit my character appears OK, but at the moment I save my char, it appears again.

It looks as if the shadow is not only on the body, but also on the sword.

If deactivating ENB (Shift + F12) does nothing and NPC is not affected, then any mod is the cause.

Don't know what BETHini is, but just in case you probably still have to do the usual INI tweaks which are 100% required for ENB to work as intended.

So the glitch still shows when you disable "UseEffect" in the ENB GUI? Otherwise i would recommend to go through the ENB checklist again - screen overlays, anti-aliasing in the drivers, etc.

Perhaps also run the game once without the ENB binaries, just to make sure.

This only leaves additional post-processing mods (SweetFX, SMAA, ReShade) as suspects. If it's not that either, then check GPU- and other hardware drivers.

If none of these helps, run some stress tests to see if the hardware might be damaged.

if u are using mod organise try using low resolution textures, might be running out of memory, check if enboost is enabled and VideoMemorySizeMb=??? at enblocal.ini set correctly, if u are using win10 make sure u updated with the memory fix to allow more the 3gb memory usage, could be missing spec textures try using another male body to pin point the problem.

also check inventory i.e. player.showinventory look for hidden stuff use player.removeitem XXXX to get rid of suspicious items.

I just happened to read the name "BethINI" again over at Unofficial Enhanced Lights and FX ELFX SMIM ENB fps performance patch

Seems like there are more people having trouble with INI files produced by that tool.

Either:

A) you run Mod Organizer, but BETHini did edit your real Skyrimprefs.ini file in the \documents folder (which is not being used by MO)

or

B) try reverting to default Ultra settings, edit your INI files manually with the mandatory tweaks (either the real- or MO files depending on how you run the game)

BethINI is a little soft that let's you manage some INI parameters a bit easier than editing directly the INI files, and it contains some premade presets for different graphics quality.

I'm going to try your ENB suggestions. As for damaged hardware, maybe but I doubt it as I don't have any problem in any other games. But I'll make a test anyway. Thanks.

I'm using NMM. I really doubt I'm running out of mem, I have a 1070 GTX + 16Go RAM and my enblocal is set to 15Go VRAM. I'll check that too with Skyrim Monitor but as far as I know running out of VRAM leads to black textures here and there, and not this kind of glitch. I also already tried to tweak memory settings and it didn't fixed the problem.

Thanks anyway for the suggestions guys. I'm struggling with this since the beginning of this char (and I'm level 52 atm...) and I didn't expect that many helps.

Allright, I'm gonna try reverting to default. Thanks.

BTW for default settings, if you delete / rename the real INI files then the Skyrim launcher will create new ones. Don't remember if you can select an "Ultra" preset there; last time i did that the game made an "High Ultra" preset which may have some settings that don't work with certain mods.

You can also find the default Ultra settings over at the STEP project, read up what each setting does and optionally enter their recommended values. After that do the required ENB tweaks with "bFloatPointRenderTarget" etc, whatever your ENB author writes in the description.

Also if you run on Win10 and use an older ENB preset, this may be bundled with SMAA or SweetFX. Older versions may be incompatible with Win10, ranging from errors / crashes on startup to massive ENB glitches like the DOF not working.

Disabling ENB and restoring INIs to default didn't fix it.

I'm pretty sure it's related to a mod doing stuff when I equip/unequip something, as as you can see in the video, when my character goes back to normal after having his textures altered by a skin spell, everything's ok until I equip something else.

Sometimes my character is "blinking" between normal/bugged during a few milliseconds (not even one sec but long enough so I can see with my eyes) and then randomly stops at normal or buggy state, it depends.

Currently the only mod that's working when I do this is Dual Shealth Redux I think, unless I forgot another one that could do this. I already tried to uninstall it but that didn't change anything so there's probably another one.

Edit : blinking like this

Edit 2 : I just noticed that it seems to fix itself after fast travelling too. Not a solution anyway, especially as I'm not fast travelling a lot (I don't like playing TES: Loading Screen Simulator).
