I need help with applying a cbbe bodyslide preset

Recommended Posts

I recently got fed up with glitches in my skyrim game so I tried a fresh install, the only problem is that I no longer have my preferred standalone body mod, (it was based on cbbe and it made female breasts and asses gigantic and very round) which I found by accident here a long time ago and have never seen anywhere else, or been able to rediscover here.

I tried to install a new one using mod organizer and I selected cbbe, installed the bodyslide/outfit studio, and loaded two presets, one that's uber curvy, and another that's even more curvy than the first.

I have a bodyslide preset on fallout4 and it works fine.

I read half a dozen tutorials, including two videos, read almost as many topics, and spent about two hours enabling and disabiling mods that effect body type as well as pressing new and interesting buttons in the bodyslide menu. I tried running the program by opening it and selecting it from a folder, I tried adding it to the list of executables and running it that way, I've run it as an admin... About the only thing I haven't done is sacrifice a virgin to Sanguine/Ishtar/Slaanesh.

for the record I'm using sexout, and it works fine, FINS has been updated with each variation of selected mods, and I have the most recent script extender, skeleton, and every other required mod that the mods I'm using... well require.

So yeah, help?

So you're running Mod Organizer and Bodyslide.... sliding a body preset and it's not showing up in your game?  I think I read that right

You'll need to always run your mod programs like BodySlide or FNIS directly from Mod Organizer from now on.  When running BodySlide from within MO, I believe it's smart enough to know from which mod your femalebody_0 / _1 files are being pulled from and replacing them - i.e highest priority in your mod organizer list (not load order).  I do however seem to remember that this wasn't exactly neat and tidy for me the first time I tried using MO, and I had a similar issue.

When I first ran BodySlide through MO, it pulled the CBBE femalebody nifs and updated them, but later in my priority list, those bodies were being replaced with default bodies included in from an outfit overhaul mod (I believe it was Remodeled Armor for CBBE HDT).  A quick re-ordering of my mod priorities resolved the issue.

An easy way to find out which mod is winning in the femalebody nif department is to inspect the CBBE mod, have a look at the Conflicts tab and note which mods are overriding the femalebody_0 and femalebody_1 mods in your list.  I have mine set to where BodySlide is now the highest priority and it works without exception for me.

You read it correctly however I am already running everything from mod organizer, and I checked the information tab on my installed body mod, its not showing bodyslide as a conflict.

I believe the issue is simply that the bodyslide is not changing the default cbbe body, and I have no idea why.

Still sounds to me like wherever your bodyslide output is going, it's not the mod that is "winning" by priority with Mod Organizer.  Have a look at the right-side panel, Data tab.  This is your virtual Skryim folder's Data folder.  Expand this as you would normally in File Explorer to:  Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets\ and have a look at femalebody_0.nif and femalebody_1.nif.  The mod listed next to it is the one winning the priority ordering and ONLY that mod's mesh will be included in the game.

If it is red in color (default color palette) like mine is, that means that more than 1 mod include those same files.  You can hover over to see which other mods include that same file.  When you inspect the mod that is listed, you should note that it may or may not show conflicts.  (it will, if it is red in color)

To find out which Mod bodyslide is writing to is somewhat easy, but not necessarily intuitive.... here's what I do:

1. Spin up bodyslide from MO

2. Pick your body type and preset as per normal, and hit the Build button

3. Close BodySlide

4. Open up Windows File Explorer and navigate to:  ..\yourModOrganizerPath\Mods\ folder (Mine is: E:\Games\ModOrganizer\mods\)

5. In windows File Explorer, search the mods folder for femalebody_0.nif - note the dates modified.  You are looking for the most recent one (from just a few moments ago) this is where BodySlide is exporting your body nifs to.  Note the folder name that this nif is in - that is the mod's name where your bodies are going.

6. Back in Mod Organizer.... review the left panel mods list and priority order for the mod you just found.  Ensure that it has a higher priority number than the other mods to resolve the conflict and use the body in game.

In the file explorer screen include, my most recently slid mod is BodySlide and Outfit Studio, which also happens to be my "winning" priority mod for bodies.  Yours likely is not, which is why despite sliding the bodies you aren't seeing them in game.

I checked in the  Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets\ for the bodyslide profile and it wasn't there, all I saw was the default cbbe body, no conflicts.

For whatever reason when I select the preset in bodyslide and hit build it doesn't do anything.

Here is a screen cap of it,

They are going somewhere... likely another Mod.  Mod Organizer merges all your mods together into a virtual Data folder.  This is why you want to run your game and any patches/utilities (like FNIS, BodySlide, etc.) from within Mod Organizer.

Still follow through with the investigation though and search your Mod Organizer Mods folder for the femalebody_0.nif - it's going somehwere, you just have to confirm where, then make sure THAT mod is the highest priority in your list (against other competing mods).

Its not there, the only femalebody_o.nif file is the default one from cbbe dated 2015

Also I run everything from mod organizer already.

The only possible issue is the fact that mod organizer and steam are on different drives, however that doesn't seem to be a problem since all the other mods work fine. My gaming rid came with two drives and one, the d drive is much larger so I try to keep most of my files there, that is where steam is, however the default steam drive is where mod organizer is because its default and I wasn't paying attention when I installed it. none of them are in program files though, they are all in the my games folder in documents.

Right, I'm suggesting you search your ..\Mod Organizer\Mods\ folder for the femalebody nifs... the folder that you find them in with the most recent file date (the last time you slid them) is the mod that they are being applied to.  This can sometimes be a mod that is not the highest priority according to MO, and so the game is ignoring them.

Find that mod, prioritize it, and you'll have solved your problem.

I think you misunderstood me. I checked the mod organizer mods folder and there was no new female body nif. Just the default one from cbbe dated 2015 presumably the year the mod was released.

Though it occurred to me to conduct a broader search, and by broader I mean the entire computer, I think I found it, its in the D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\meshes\actors\character\character assets pathway

So nowhere near the mod organizer and also in the place where skyrim is actually installed. Which is odd considering I installed it using the mod organizer, What do I do now?

Ah ha!  Progress is good.  I may have misunderstood, but you found the file, so that's a good thing.  The fact that it's in your Skryim folder is why you FO4 game and Mod Organizer can't see it.

The recommended install (you might already know this, but it makes a point) for any Bethesda game and Mod Organizer or NMM is to install the game in the default steam location - wherever that may be for your machine.

For mods, it is recommended to install unique copies of NMM or Mod Organizer and all the supporting mods.  Generally speaking, it's generally recommended like so:

Skyrim:

..\yoursteampath\Skryim

..\yoursteampath\Skryim\Mod Organizer\  (or NMM)

Fallout Games (any)

..\yousteampath\Fallout(X)

..\yourteampath\Fallout(x)\Mod Organizer\ (or NMM)

This will result in 2 copies of Mod Organizer or NMM - that's OK and what you want.  I find that running the "many in one" results in errors like sometimes files crossing over game installs.

The same goes for things like BodySlide and any other mod.  You want to download and install that on a per game and per mod management application basis - then set the paths correctly.  This absolutely ensures that you don't have a situation where, in your case, you slide your body, and the files go to the wrong game.

Check your install paths and BodySlide utility to ensure that it is in fact installed correctly and pointing at Mod Organizer for Fallout 4 and not Skyrim.  Based on what you said, it looks as though you may have used the same install for both or your Mod Organizer got confused running against multiple beth games.

I don't understand why you keep mentioning fallout 4, I'm modding skyrim, the bodyslide mod I have installed for fallout 4 works fine and was no trouble at all to set up.

As for Skyrim, I moved mod organizer to the skyrim folder and changed the paths to reflect its new location, I then ran bodyslide through mod organizer, updated fins again through mod organizer, created and overwrite mod for fins, which goes without saying but you might suggest I do that if I don't clarify that I already did, then loaded skyrim and confirmed that just as before I'm stuck with the default body because the build button in bodyslide did fuck all.

Skyrim is the only game I use mod organizer for. fallout for and skyrim se are both run off of the nexus mod manager, and fallout 3/new vegas are run off the fallout mod manager. I also have oblivion and morrowind which are run off obmm and mmm respectively.

I was confused this whole time too.  You mentioned Skyrim and Fallout in the OP along with FNIS and Sexout too which are also for Skyrim (FNIS) and Fallout (Sexout).  So.... maybe that's my bad. Apologies.

When all else fails.... I just create a "mod" with the nifs and folder structure needed, install it to Mod Organizer, in the last/highest priority position, run BodySlide and it works, every time.

Good idea, I did just that and it actually worked. For the benefit of anyone who ever has this problem from now until the heat death of the universe, behold my mod.

full disclosure, I just got back from a holiday party and I am quite drunk.

super hapy funtime bodymod for ultimate sucess.zip
