Frankfranky Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 hi. My Skyrim has been stable since ... ages. I have 238 pluggins, all the heavy scripting goodness, hundreds of merged mods, 4k and 8k textures, high end enb, the whole box and dice. No problems. Then Windows updates and boom, fucked. Mb 10-15 mins and CTD. I will skip the bit about disabling mods, cleaning, optimising, mucking around with preloaders, googling etc and get to the good bit. There is a windows service called Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service. I read a comment on Reddit that it causes CTD in older games after 10-15 mins playtime. I thought "pfft, what a load of crap" then I thought "well you haven't tried it have you?" So I disabled it and, and, and it worked. My game is back to rock solid stable. Hope this helps someone.
Uncle64 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Try to install this new update. https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/help/4054517/windows-10-update-kb4054517 The issue you describe have never happen to me at least.
Dallas-Arbiter Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 When I got the Fall Creator's update, the game's fps went to a constant 60, but it was crashing every 2 or 3 minutes. What I did that worked was I got Crash Fixes, Set my ENB properly, set the memory allocation in both the Crash fixes ini and the ENB local ini above 768mb, (actually I set both the Enb local and the Crash Fixes ini to 12160, that's all my V ram and 5gb of ram to be used as V ram), and it works. I can play as long as I want, and it just won't crash.

Setup includes touch screen and tablet and thus the extra bits in the Windows Ink Workspace. Looking through my settings, I too had disabled Touchpad, Touch Keyboard also Location and Input Indicator. Looks like solid advice from FrankFranky for those with touch enabled systems CTDing.

No, there was nothing in the papyrus log at all. Didn't I have fun and games there After every crash I would read it find the last error and purge every mod that was even marginally related. eg Arthmoor has made an edit to Swanhvir in Stonehills in USLEEP. Who goes to Stonehills? I am not even sure where it is? Anyway she is supposed to be gathering lumber apparently, but papyrus told me she was having issues with it. So I wrote a batch to summon and kill her in the Live another life start room. This fixed the papyrus log error. This did not prevent a ctd. Though curiously satisifying, I suspect somewhat redundant
