MrEsturk Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Having come back to Skyrim in the last month I finally decided to get rid of the cheap plastic look of the game's vanilla shader and install an ENB setup. However while the one I currently have is a huge improvement it still looks vastly inferior to the lighting effects I've seen in most of the screenshots on this site. And since there are so many different ones to chose from on various modding sites I was wondering if anyone could help narrow down my search a bit. For some reason my PC absolutely refuses to run Skyrim with SweetFX, so barring going through a ton more painful troubleshooting in desperate hope I can get the thing working I'd rather not use it if possible. Or is that the only way I'm going to get the typical image quality seen on this site? I'm using a Nvidia GeForce gtx 1080 graphics card if that might help get some info on how to get SweetFX working if needed.
27X Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 If you're on win10 SFX is going to have issues, period and your best bet is to either going with SFX1.5 or SFX 1. Though McFly and Boris have been working together lately along with Tapioks, kingeric and prod80 and Kyo, so why you'd need sfx at all is really up to personal taste. I could recommend ENB this and chinese shader pack that, but frankly pick an ENB you like for playing as much as screenshots, because the alternative is you pick THAT enb and then start picking THAT DoF, and THAT .FX file for this interior and THAT on for exterior and then you're trying to cram other shader packages in there, and then you're using injected PostProcessing to fake some shit and then you're photoshopping half your fucking picture and then it's not really skyrim anymore, is it; it's some halfassed frankenstein vanity thing that will never measure up anything put out by Poser or DAZ or any other dedicated scenebuild/lightbbox program. Find a solid enb that you like, mess with it til you like it more, make sure you can still actually play the game cause the other path is all about petty grievances over imaginary red hearts, that way lies ennui and snippiness and stolen presets.
