Dawnguard Bugs/fixes

I am creating this thread so that people can post up their errors,& bugs, In search of a fix. for Skyrim's Expansion: Dawnguard.

This Bug is for "The Bloodstone Chalice" Quest: if you are unable to start the quest after you have turned into a Vampire & you try talking to Garan Marethi all he tells you is to go back to Lord Harkon & get changed back to a vampire, & you are unable to start the conversation with him? then I have a Fix:

 

I had this problem. use console key ~

 

If you are a Nord type:

player.setrace nordracevampire

 

Breton type - player.setrace bretonracevampire

 

others type after player.setrace

argonianracevampire

khajiitracevampire

orcracevampire

darkelfracevampire

highelfracevampire

imperialracevampire

woodelfracevampire

 

etc.

just an adding fior the post above if using a custom race and that happens get the mod that allows you to talk to people in vampire lord form and they will acknowledge you as a vampire

ok found a few bugs and errors and called bethsoft tech support to report them. some they already know about here is my list

 

DO NOT take serana with you to broken ore grotto for the vampire side missions she gets stuck at exit and wont leave according to beth only fix besides not bringing her is to load a previous save.

castle courtyard has backround missing in some locations.

random enemies by this i mean do a side mission for both sides dawnguard or vamp's and go back to turn in and wham everyone is instantly hostile to you.

happens in towns etc it seems. weapon racks n mannequins in dawnguard castle items still get taken/ disappear so dont recomend using them.

 

dawnguard side had vamp cure used on me 2x. only to gain vamp again out of the blue. exited a cave and wham all of a sudden im a vamp again. but cant be cured. again everyone hostile and trying to kill me. (fix for it ) have serana turn you into vamp again them go get cured again. do not take her with you to be cured if she's still a vamp. the town and guy who cures you goes hostile and attacks on loading in via fast travel. seems most towns auto attack when you enter with her and go auto hostile.

vampire side quest in winterhold inn turn woman (Haran) into vampire is bugged you do it once but them later on it comes up as a do it again mission. but shes already one so you cant will be calling bethsoft tech support to report this this morning when they open.called was told itsa known issue you have to keep reloading before you get quest to get a different one to continue on

 

if anyone want to join me in calling them to report said issues there hours are monday thru friday 9 am eastern standard time usa to 4 pm phone number for there tech support is (1 410 568 3685) hope adding phone info doesnt get me in trouble but if we let them know they can fix it with a patch.

asking them to release a patch is risky. the might break even more than they already have. i wish they could just roll back to 1.6. that was the most stable and fun version of skyrim since 11.11.11.

I had a weird bug when fighting Harkon. I was unable to kill him. Serana and I had beaten him with his health bar entirely depleting. But all that did was make him 'freeze' in the spot he was at with his health filling back up to full. At this point he also kept fighting, same as Serana...but he (Harkon) never moved any longer...he stayed right in that spot. Me & Serana attacking him did absolutely nothing.

 

The 'fix' I did, which I don't know if it was truly a fix or just a stroke of luck, but I had Harkon kill me. Why this worked and not simply loading an earlier save didn't, I don't know. But once Harkon killed me, and the game reloaded, on that next fight I was able to kill Harkon and have the quest complete.

Every time i bite him, i get stuck in this sequence. after biting him i cant do anything else>.< Every button i push activates the bite animation. Anyone else with the same problem?

After having Serana cured of her Vampirism, and meeting back up with her at the Dawnguard fort (I sided with the Dawnguard on this playthru), Serana wouldn't join back up with me as a follower. Every time I initiated a conversation with her, she'd just answer me with the vanilla, "Need something" type responses. I couldn't even ask her for her blood for my arrows.

Not sure as to what your asking, buuut..

 

I don't have all the problems & answers to the game, I got tired of searching the net, only to find No answers at all, sooo I started this thread so people can post up their own problems, & or fixes, & this thread will help aid those looking for answers. I posted my problem & fix to start the tread off.

I don't have all the problems & answers to the game, I got tired of searching the net, only to find No answers at all, sooo I started this thread so people can post up their own problems, & or fixes, & this thread will help aid those looking for answers. what i mean is rewrite the questions posted on the thread with the answers and put them on your first post so people wont ask the same thing over and over again if this thread gets more pages, and it will

your not the only one,if you have any mods that affect vampires and dawn guards in anyway it will cause more CTDs and freezes

dawngaurd for pc just came out so there will be some probs jut wait for the nest updates (1.8....ord 1.9 if you count dawngaurd)

Didn't have any problems here, just in the battle with Serena's father he kinda did nothing from the middle on, I just killed him while he standed there. Next Serena would offer no talk option, it appeared after I left and returned to this room.

the only fix is to go back to a save with her as a follower. this bug has been around since the 360 version. she is really buggy and it is best to not fire her, tell her to wait, etc.

Heard if you wait 72 hours it also will fix the above issue. I haven't tried it myself. Still have the problem where feeding for the radiant quests/moth priest quest wouldn't advance it, but with console use advanced past them in my current game. If anyone knows of a fix though, would be nice for any later playthroughs.

vignar grey mane is attacking me and im hearing him yell vampire

i cant think of anything that would cause this except for detroying the storm cloaks, which shouldn't have to do with anything :T

How to fix the lard harkon bug in skyrim dawnguard?

i just bought dawn-guard for skyrim and after i take lord harkons daughter to me he tells me i need more convincing to become a vampire but then it just freezes and nothing else happens when i walk up to him and press e all he does is scream but all the doors are locked i cant escape or continue with the quest and this is really annoying i learned that many other people have had the same issue but i have yet to find a solution and it would very much be appreciated

if he is stuck in position with his cup raised use the wait option by hitting "t" wait a hour and it should fix itself.

i encountered a bug a week ago that i couldn't fix until now. when i asked the vamps at castle volkihar, "what can i do to help?" they all would tell me to ask Vingalmo. when i went to ask him, the option for a radiant quest wouldn't appear.

 

to fix this, simply put in the console "setstage DLC1RV07 100" (w/o quotation marks) then talk to Vingalmo and that will complete the stuck radiant quest. exit and then re-enter the castle to pick up another radiant mission and it should work.

 

all of the wikis and forums on the internet didn't have a fix, so i decided to post it here.

that's awesome, but use at own risk because the next time u go to showracemenu on console command it will reset your character appearance from personal experience

after trying to successfully fire her and rehire her a few times, i find that she could be rehired if you fire her while inside the castle volkihar main hall. perhaps the same thing will work if you tell her to get cured while inside for dawnguard?

I have found that if you are or look like a humanoid Vampire & you use the "showracemenu" then it can cause a character reset, but try typing (if in Humanoid vampire form) player.setrace nord. etc.. before you go into showracemenu it should work but to be on the safe side save your game before you go into the console.
