guk Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I'm 300 hours in a playthrough where i left Preston in Sanctuary with "When Freedom Calls" not started. Gotta say that this was the best playthrough so far, because you can just do what you want and never get into the threadmill of timed MM radiant quests. Now i figured out that you can actually clear out The Castle and build there just like in any other settlement, without the Minutemen quest to retake it. Only problem is the stuff from the Mirelurk infestation. Most of it can be safely removed via /disable "prid 12a244", but the broken mirelurk eggs don't seem to disappear even when sleeping 12 hours in another settlement. Is there any (safe) way to clean up the place, other than by scrapping each of them individually with Scrap Everything + Place Everywhere?
MegaGryphon Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Hi, Yeah I did the same thing (on my Railroad/Institute playthrough) and claimed the Castle with zero Minutemen. At some point later I did join up with the Minutemen and - doesn't matter if level one or one hundred - the Castle quests will all roll! It's the Minutemen questline that tidies up the castle, but I guess you know that already. There is a dialog option to tell Preston "I already took the Castle". Then the old warrior Ronnie Shaw still shows up... And the Castle still gets heavily attacked and must be defended. Not much of a settlement w/o the Minutemen though! (Not much of a settlement even WITH the Minutemen, heheh...)
guk Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 Okay that's one possibility, though i sided with the raiders in Nuka World so Preston won't do anything unless i do the Open Season quest (eliminate the raiders).
xenic Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Use markfordelete But use it very carefully as it seems to persist even if you go back a save. You'll have to leave zone and come back to see the changes.
