switching from Skyrim SE to Skyrim

As the title implies, I want to switch from Skyrim SE to Skyrim due to the mod support that there is for Skyrim (more followers, etc).

Is it even a good idea? Can I port my game save (which includes a lot of inigo progression)? any help is appreciated. I use NMM and I have a 64 bit machine.

Personally I think it's a great idea, since SKSE based mods are the only reason I still play Skyrim, and SE seems unlikely to ever get that support.  Your save files from SE can't be imported, but you can make up for starting over with a much wider variety of very fun and engaging mods.

It's a shame, because even though I don't think I'd have the patience to start over, I really wanted to use the world expansion mods, like Enderal. New lands, quests, etc. None seem to be compatible with SE.

Well, Enderal will transform your Skyrim, into Enderal, so you can't play Skyrim when you play Enderal. Of course you can transform it back again

I play both Special Edition and Skyrim. On Skyrim I play the mods from here with the little more sexual content but not playing through the story.

On Special Edition is where I play the main game, since it's way more stable and less chance to CTD.

Wow, so buying Skyrim purely for the sake of Enderal isn't a bad idea then? Would you know anything similar to Enderal (not necessarily separate from Skyrim) off the top of your head for SE?

Oh, you don't even own Skyrim?! Geez, then I don't know if it's worth it. I bought Skyrim Legendary and got SE for free. I wouldn't say it's worth it to buy first SE and then buy Skyrim just for Enderal.
