Molevalence Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 This has never happened to me before but its a bug enough to keep me from playing Skyrim. It's essentially a constant CTD whenever I load any game from anywhere but what baffles me is why it does it when I loaded up a Mod Organizer folder fully modded out and worked perfectly fine from my archives. (I backup a lot) and it does the same thing. (I have used many patches to better stabilize the game and avoid load crashes to no avail.) I pretty much start a game make a character. My character is inside a small dungeon from the Alternate Start mod so once I get all the mods loaded and registered/tweaked into the game I make 2 saves as a primary buffer to load up first once I have my character out in the actual Skyrim world. Now once that is said and done if I save the game and exit then reload the game it don't matter which one it will always crash. The first time this happened I updated a few mods ran FNIS all that good thing. Started over fresh to avoid mod complications from previous saves and it crashed. I then completely removed that MO folder and took my backup one from my archives started over again and it does the same thing. (This archive I tested out in the past many times and had no issues.) I tried savetool and savecleaner both crash whenever I select a save file. (Derp?) I know modding can be a complicated thing and small things in modding can quite often lead to very big problems so I just want to know if this is a loss cause sifting through about 240 mods or would it be a better idea to wipe the slate clean and start over with a fresh Mod Organizer?
Rynnes Master Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 Have you installed Enboost and Crash Fixes? If yes, have you read the ini file comments, particularly with Crash Fixes? In my experience the answer to nearly all (but not all) CTDs can be found in those two programs and proper mod installation (TES5Edit, LOOT, and WryeBash are absolute necessities, and Mod Organizer, although not necessary, is far and away the better modding tool). If your old game won't load, looking at MO's right pane should point you to the issue (almost always a missing master) but there are lots of other reasons why a modded Skyrim doesn't act like one expects it to. Out of order masters is a huge contributor to instability and WryeBash points out their existence. TES5Edit also points a user to issues. In my experience and opinion absolutely no plugin should be added to any load order until it's been run through TES5Edit to make sure it's clean. If you've been using 240 mods (I have nearly twice as many, counting texture mods and Dyndolod) you probably know all this already, but if not, I hope I've helped you.
Molevalence Posted August 9, 2017 Author Posted August 9, 2017 Thank you for the reply. Yes I have checked everything you stated (LOOT, TES5Edit ENBoost, Wyrebash and Crash Fixes) everything is in order working fine. Loot gave me no errors at all and TES5Edit showed nothing dirty or anything that needed to be cleaned. Something tells me a glitch gremlin got in somehow.
Sladen2019 Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 There is a new Loading fix mod at Nexus. Load Game CTD Fix http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443/?
Molevalence Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 Thank you for the reply. I will try this out in a little bit and see what happens. Update: Tried it out and unfortunately it did not work.
Molevalence Posted August 13, 2017 Author Posted August 13, 2017 Update: Fiddled around for a few hours a day for a few days and no new results. Best way to explain it is this: Im going to uninstall/remove everything and start over from scratch once I get the motivation to do so. Thanks again for everyone who responded.
