Need Help Figuring Out what LL mods will before buying Skyrim

I had the original Skyrim years ago, long story short I lost my Laptop and was unable to play on it anymore so I been stuck with console gaming. I am getting a new laptop tomorrow and going to get Skyrim and want to run LL mods such DD, Devious Loot, Submit, Defeat, and a few others. I have been looking through the mods list the past few days reading requirements etc. and some will say need the Skyrim Legendary patch, none mention the SE edition and so forth.

 

My question is this If I want to use the LL mods which version of Skyrim should I get? I see so many threads debating this topic and making my head spin regarding having SKES, SKES32, SKES64 and will need to use the Legendary patch to get it to work on SE? I remember in the original version I think they had an Unofficial Skyrim Patch you had to use or something. Any input would be greatly appreciated before I purchase and download Skyrim. I am just trying to avoid buying something I can not use LL mods with, that would just plain suck.

not sure about the requirements for the specific mods you want to use

however , if they require SKSE , than they will only work on the Legendary edition of Skyrim (or Oldrim)

this is because for the Special edition , SKSE64 is still being made , and it seems it will take quite some time for it to be released

 

if you look on the SE Nexus site , the (probably) first mod to be released is the unofficial patch (as it's just the one from Oldrim , converted to SE , as Beth didn't fix any of the old bugs)

so the unofficial patch exists for both versions of the game

 

basically , I would suggest you to browse this site , under the Skyrim section , and look at the Special edition part of the forums

if you can find all of the mods you want for the Special edition , just get it

if not , and you must have all of these mods , just get the Legendary edition

Yes, it did thank you, for a clear precise answer I will make a list of must have LL mods and see which ones match up with each version of SKYRIM. Hopefully, by tomorrow night I am running through some SKYRIM Ho's

most mods from here need skse, go with oldrim.... SE just isnt worth it

UPDATE: Okay it looks like from steam I can only buy the SE version or If you look hard enough I can get the original version. I am wanting to go with the Legendary Version any one knows a place I can find and download (not Pirated, Purchase). I saw Green Man Gaming has it but gives a Steam code I believe. If Steam does not have it would it be upgraded to SE?

Thanks, I see keys on other sites that say it goes through Steam, they are priced lower than Amazon, but I am not sure about those so I rather pay more and go through Amazon than a less on a site I do not know. Thanks for the link

Any vendor you find for any PC version of Skyrim will give you a Steam code, as that is the only legitimate distribution site for the game.

 

As far as determining whether a mod is for the original release or the remaster: on this website, mods for Special Edition are in their own subforum and file category, and on the Nexus they're separated (nexusmods.com/skyrim/ for classic mods, nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition for SE mods).

Skyrim SE is not only an update, it's a second game/version meant as replacement for the original version. Steam doesn't show the original anymore for buying, but it's still there, if you get a key somewhere it should be fine. 

 

On nexus are several mods for SE, but on LL almost everything requires SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender). Since SKSE 64 for Skyrim SE (Special Edition) isn't finished, SKSE 32 and SKSE is the same, the 32 is only added if you want to make clear that you talk about the old, existing version for the original Skyrim, for the same reason called Oldrim. But everytime you see only SKSE you can also be sure it means SKSE 32.

 

A lot of mods require also the DLCs Dragonborn, Hearthfire and Dawnguard, you'll probably want an all-in-one package since that's usually cheaper than buying them one after another, if you find a "Skyrim legendary" that includes all DLCs and is what you want. If you have all DLCs use USLEEP (Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition E? Patch), if you don't have all 3 you need the older single patches for Skyrim and the DLCs you possibly have.
