Are they serious about these hardware reqs?

The *minimum* hardware requirement is the most powerful graphics card in existence? They're making a funny right? Are the textures all 128K Hyper Ultra HD or something? post-213841-0-37270500-1499766730_thumb.jpg

The game's performance is pretty bad. It's why even people with a GTX1080 still use ShadowBoost.

Even then, some areas are very unoptimized and your FPS will tank.

I'm on a 970 and playing at 1440p. In Skyrim with ENB I get 55-60 fps usually (and I have it capped at 60). In FO4, my FPS will fluctuate from 30-50... And that's with settings turned down. If playing at 1080p, you'll fare a lot better though. Will still need to turn down shadow draw distance and use ShadowBoost though.

I had a 980TI and I was running fine on max res at 60FPS.

Did a test with a 1080TI just after this texture pack was released.

And I had a drop to an average of 40FPS.

I just uninstalled it.

Even in the urban area outside Diamond City? That place is terribly unoptimized...

I also need to run some test with the HD Reworked mod disabled. Just realized that may be a cause of some serious performance issues as the ESP apparently disabled precombined objects.

Keep in mind that I was playing it only the first weeks after the release. No mods.

And, no, I was never going bad on FPS. Maybe, sometimes, around 50, but not always.

I actually just tested with the HD Reworked mod turned off. What a big difference it made. I tested two problem areas and it was way better.

That area just outside Diamond City... use to get 40fps w/ shadows on medium. Turned off the mod and my FPS was capping out at 60.

I did only a half an hour testing with the 1080TI. It was not mine.

But also with this card, the result was way worst than my 908TI without the HigRes textures.

Maybe it's the drivers. Either the drivers are from before the 1080s were sorted out, or drivers are tailored to the card when installed.

I've got a solid MSI laptop and for the most part Fo4 plays pretty well.

40/50 fps for the most part. Solid 60 in interior cells and and really fucking 30 there abouts in Dontown.

But remember the days in computer games when "Fog" was used to improve performance by restricting view distance? yeah doesn't happen in Fo4 :D

I seriously dont understand why people have preformance issues with Fallout 4, i run with ultra on a gtx 1080 iv never had massive fps loss..

Downtown Boston is the most CPU intensive area, fallout4 is really unoptimised and the shadows usually have the biggest impact on your FPS. Use Shadowboost or try lowering the shadow distance, you'll gain a stable 60 FPS with very few dips. Also, the official hi-res dlc is garbage and just wastes your drive space. Very little difference unless you love zooming in up close into things. Just pick up hi res mods from nexus as they do a better job at it plus use less VRAM.

I forgot to follow my own topic, didn't realize anyone had replied :P

Anyway, I decided to stick to texture packs off the Nexus. Using Vivid 4k and some armor & weapon 4k retextures. They look great and, as a bonus, don't take up a cool 10% of my entire SSD and my 1050Ti handles it just fine.
