cleavagesweat Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 i wanted to try out a mod for smooth male bodies here http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26145/? the one i was gonna try says "NORMAL MAP ONLY" - wut does that mean?
Alter Native Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Below you find a download that says 'diffuse map only'. You need both of them for the body mesh you use. The normalmap is a texture that creates a small 3D effect at an object. For bodys this typically used for small muscles or bones.
Tweens Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 There are primarily 4 maps for characters: malebody_1.dds is the texture map (also called diffuse) that gives the model color. malebody_msn.dds is the normal map (model space normal for characters). It gives the model detail. malebody_s.dds is the specular map. It gives the model shading (lights and darks). malebody_sk.dds is the subsurface scattering map. It is intended to give the character's skin depth. Your mod in question only contains the malebody_msn.dds. You would need to use another mod for the other 3 maps.
cleavagesweat Posted June 22, 2017 Author Posted June 22, 2017 well that's ... who wud use this mod then?
Alter Native Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 The mod is fine, just download the normalmap and the diffuse map. You just need both files. Below that in optional files you find a subsurface map as well.
