Skyrim fresh install: Help with modding

Hello, so I'm planning a new fresh start to Skyrim, hopefully with all the mods I had last time, but with less of a chance to have a ctd. I haven't downloaded anything yet, but I have loot, mod organizer, and tes5edit (Which I have no idea how to use properly, cuz last time with mo it made an issue with some stuff.)

 

I also heard there is something you can do with skse to limit ctd, and heard of stuff like boss and wyre bash, and I basically feel confused on the subject.

 

So I was hoping someone could give me some help in getting a good stable game.

1. Currently have a legal copy of Skyrim
2. Mod Organizer
3. Loot
4. tes5edit
5. enboost

Haven't reinstalled any mods yet.

 

What else should I need?

 

And sorry if this was all answered before or something, I'm pretty new to asking questions and all that, and I felt it would be better to be able to ask whatever question I had directly and broadly.

Use Crash Fixes. It needs SKSE Plugin Preloader. Read the instructions completely.

When you make edits in ini files, make sure you are editing the right one specific to the character you want to edit.

Mod Organizer stores them seperatly for each profile.

 

I personally have installed Crash Fixes and ENBoost both manually, so they cover all profiles.

Can you also explain what wyre bash and boss are?

 

Also can you explain tes5edit and how to use that when using the unofficial patch?

Wrye Bash is a mod manager that can install mods and make a Bashed Patch, Many players just use it for the Bashed Patch function.

The Bashed Patch can merge some esps data into one and you can tweak certain settings. What actually gets merged would take awhile to explain and I don't know all the intricasies of it  I use it at its default settings mostly to make a bashed patch and I adjust a few tweaks.

For Oblivion, I use it as my mod manager also, since it can do everything all in one and I don't really care about full profiles features for Oblivion.

Boss is an older version of Loot. It does the same thing as Loot. Sorts mods. Loot is newer and much better in some technical ways.

I use Boss for Oblivion sorting since Loot doesnt do as good a job for Oblivion mods.

 

TES5Edit is a more advanced tool that you can use to clean your Update/Dawnguard/Hearthfire/Dragonborn.esms. You can use it to clean other "dirty" mods also but its best to read up on those dirty edits in their own threads before cleaning as some of them are hacks used to make a function work. It can also be used to find mod conflicts among many other things. Too much to list and go into.

The unoffical patch you are referring to is probably USLEEP. USLEEP is the Legendary version of all the old singular patches, combined into one.

The old singular patches do not get updated anymore. If you have Skyrim and all of its DLC, you should use USLEEP.

whats your os? if you are runing oldskyrim win10 has a limit of 4gb with enboost, and this kinda of dictates number of mods and textures u load...

As for the unofficial patch, I tried using tes5edit to clean update/dlc and all that, but then MO gave me warnings about the patch not working with those as well.

 

So far I downloaded skse and the stuff above which was suggested.

 

The mod guide said to create a ini for skse too, so I did that.

Even if you do not want to install all that they suggest they do give good guides for each of the utilities and other stuff used for modding.
