Game freezes consistently / Skyrim computer crash

Hi all,

 

I recently came back to Skyrim because why the heck not. Got a bit bored with some other games and Shadows of Valentia doesn't arrive for a few more days, so...

 

The game consistently will freeze within one minute of stepping into the exterior, non-interior world. I can stay in character creation or the beginning area of Alternate Start for as long as I want, and can fight stuff in those areas. However, exteriors will 100% freeze the game within a couple of minutes. Skyrim doesn't crash or start responding again for as long as I leave it open.

 

This is based off a completely fresh install on a new hard drive. I did a fresh install as my previous game would, for some reason, crash my entire computer at times. I'm not great at modding and kinda just did whatever before, but this hasn't happened in the many re-installs I've done over the years. I'm at a loss as to what to try next to fix the problem.

 

My load order is shown below. The issue sprung up from before I cleaned my master files, sorted with LOOT. ENB is currently running with .308, with the boost added via the executable file RV_launcher. Maybe I installed one particular mod that fights with another and is causing this, I'm not too sure.

I see you don't have USLEEP. Its an all in one version of all the old singular patches. Singular patches arent made anymore.

Make sure you are using the XPMSE skeleton from this link:

You can replace the Bethesda hi res packs with this mod. This mod makes them look better and use less memory and no hi res patch is needed.

You should be using Crash Fixes. It's the main modern fix to have these days.

Make sure to read the instructions thoroughly. You really need a helper mod for it called SKSE Plugin Preloader. You should also set UseOSAllocators to 1 in CrashFixPlugin.ini .

 

Thats a pretty heavy load order to start clean off the bat from if your having problems. You should probably do a clean install with basic mods first and than add a few at a time.

I see you have three weather mods, that might be part of the problem.

 

In the past, I've had the same thing happen due to graphics, I've got a mid-range card. I found Texture Optimizer helped

The freezing fixes above worked, but my old problem of my entire computer suddenly crashing and restarting after playing Skyrim for a bit is happening.

 

The game is very stable now, but it will consistently crash the whole computer at some point. I've been monitoring my temperatures, and there seems to be no problem. I'm not sure why it's happening but it's what prompted me to reinstall in the first place.

The only thing I can think of that would be an issue hardware side is that one of my 8 GB RAM sticks (of two) has its casing falling off a bit.

I would pull that stick out and try game without it, find out why that heat spreader is coming off, is it just shoddy or did it get too hot and is it contacting any conductive parts of the memory stick?  Bad memory won't normally cause a shutdown but physical damage to the memory can.

The game seems to crash faster without the stick in. I can't tell visibly if there's any physical damage, but the crashing only seems to happen in Skyrim and no other game I have installed.

 

Other games I have installed at the moment are Borderlands 2, FFXIV, FO4. Borderlands 2 keeps defaulting to 4k, and that runs on max settings really well, unless too many gunfire particles are around.

No other game causes pc shutdown? If that's so then do you have enblocal.ini configured correctly, have you made any changes to ini files for skyrim or have you changed/updated any drivers lately?

As far as I know, enblocal.ini should be fine. I haven't touched it besides using the RV_installer file or whatever it's called.

 

I didn't update any drivers until the problem started happening, just to see if it fixed the problem. Doesn't seem to have done anything.

 

Edit: After a few days of playing around with hardware and software configs, I still can't seem to figure out what's causing the whole computer to crash. Any last suggestions before I kinda have to put down Skyrim for good? ;w;
