Any Torchwood Fans On LL?

Never ever saw a Dr Who show all the way through. Just couldn't get into it. However, I have watched Torchwood numerous times. Love the characters (been hot for Eve Myles the second I saw her), love the stories. I guess I'm one of the few who actually liked Season 4. I look at it this way - a bad Torchwood season completely beats the shit out of 99% of the "best" American shows of any type.

So far I'm only into episode 3 but am finding it surprisingly... sexy!

That's why it wasn't popular with the regular Doctor Who fans. :P

All true. I love Eve Myles, also (don't know why so many fans actually hate her.)

Torchwood 4 was co-American produced that's why it's so awful.

"Sexy", I liked. I could have done with a little more "heterosexual". I mean, I know the premise was that in the future all the cool kids won't care about the gender of their sex partners, and that's fair enough. But I'd still have liked a few more episodes that could appeal to unregenerate 21st century straight males.

As it was, we had the Cyberwoman costume, Toshiro's one-episode lesbian fling ... and that's about it. The rest of the "sexy" was Cap'n Jack playing tonsil hockey with every guy he happened to bump into. Which is perfectly OK if you happen to like that sort of thing, but not what most of the Who fans had been led to expect.

That's why it went off the rails by the end of season 2. Then it came back like gangbusters with season 3 to make up for their mistakes.

Well, they fixed the lack of an arc story on the first two series, certainly. There still wasn't an awful lot of "sexy" in there for someone of my orientation.

Arc stories are nice but not essential. A series like Star Trek was more about the setting, characters, and having an open exploration and benefited by not having a arc story. But then a show like Stargate seemed well improved by having seasonal story lines. It so depends on so many things. Sometimes, tho, I can get annoyed by arc stories that are used like a carrot on a stick, teasing the viewer to keep watching, like with Game of Thrones, where you can watch an entire season and still not feel like you ever had sex.

I love Torchwood - haven't seen Season 4 yet, because my favourite character is Ianto and I just know I won't enjoy it as much without him. I loved Children of Earth despite what happens, and I'm one of the few Ianto fans who wouldn't change it, but man. :( I miss him.

(Also, yes, Cyberwoman is TERRIBLE - but ever so cheesily so. For people who enjoy cheesy sci-fi, it's very fun. Most of the first season is like that, really. Don't even get me started on the life-force-stealing-through-sex alien! XD)

That's why I really liked the original Captain Jack when he was in Doctor Who: He could be looking into a woman's eyes and saying' date=' 'I love yo--well, hello sailor!" and suddenly his attention was on some good-looking man. Quite humourous really.

Glad you agree with me--I thought I was alone in the universe. :D
