begalund Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Okay there might be a thread for this already, but damned if I could find one. The strangest issue has popped up. I've got "automatic free camera" checked so I can zoom around during various scenes and reposition actors or snap a screen shot or whatever. However, I've recently elected to drop my enb to improve performance, and after a bit of related cleanup of other unneeded/unwanted mods, suddenly this option doesn't seem to be working. Checked, unchecked, it doesn't seem to make a difference. No camera flybys, just normal third person viewing. I can still toggle the console and type "tfc" which seems to work, but has a related problem that I might not recover full control of my hands for drawing a weapon on left mouse click - at least once I regain control of my toon following completion of the animation cycle. I'm at a loss here. Hopefully someone has seen this before and knows the easy fix. I'm going to go back to checking all the usual problems (LooT, bash patching, etc.) and seeing if those make any difference.
jap2015 Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Well if I'm understanding you, You have automatic free camera checked in Sexlab, it bugged out and now you have camera issues. If this is the case, that feature of sexlab has always been buggy and you should not use it. Instead use the 3NP key to activate free camera. If you make a save while the camera is messed up it will probably be baked into the it, you will probably have to load an earlier save. For a easy fix that may or maynot work, I have gotten lucky before and was able to correct a camera problem by hitting the action key during an animation. Just keep hitting it until the camera returns to normal.
prinyo Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 In my experience it can happen if you go into free camera before the animation starts. There are several things happening before animation so it is easy to tfc just before it actually starts. Especially if you experience script lag. With the auto free camera option of SL this doesn't happen because the free camera is always enabled at the exactly correct time. I've been trying to understand why it happens for some time now and last week I found out similar effect happens in FO4 with FP. And I was able to reproduce it consistently there. It might be related to the way the game is animating the PC. For example if you go into free camera during a vanilla animation in Skyrim (like mining), and don't disable it at the animation end then you eventually will lose control over the character when you do disable it. Ashal said that there are several things done to fix any problem that might happen after SL animation ends so I guess that's why everything is fine at the end of such anim. I guess there are no similar fixes at the start of the animation. I think (but I'm not sure) it doesn't happen if you tfc while the characters are moving/teleporting to the PC. It happens if you do it while they undress and prepare just before the anim starts. That's why the problem appears more if you experience script lag. All that said, I believe the best you can do is try to find out why the SL free cam is not working anymore. And tfc only when you see that the characters are already actually in an animation. 1
Phelps1247 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 The TFC problem happens if you don't exit TFC before the scene ends. I suggest turning off "auto advance stages" so you can hit TFC again during the final stage then press space to advance it yourself.
begalund Posted May 7, 2017 Author Posted May 7, 2017 Thanks everyone for the suggestions, but everyone has it backwards - well except for jap2015 who almost has it right. I'll see if I can explain it better. The auto free camera option used to work just fine. sex scene starts, suddenly mouse and KB movement control switches over to afc mode, I zoom around to get a better viewpoint, no worries. scene ends, I return to regular control. I almost always initiated scenes in 3rd person, since I was concerned about the location of nearby furniture, rocks, etc. Yesterday, when I restarted after a long period away, it didn't bother switching into afc mode. checked or unchecked, all i had was mouse viewpoint control (spin around character, look up and down - but no zoom in or out, no flybys, and no movement in the X-Y-Z planes, other than to spin around a fixed point just behind my toon's back). typing in the console command "afc" would work, but that would cause the possible problems you have all been describing above. I was more concerned about the lack of switching over in the first place. However, after crashing and restarting to fix a different issue (wrist gaps when donning clothing - MO having two mods loaded in the wrong order in the left panel, one of them being bodyslide), it's now working again. *Shrug* So whatever. I have a completely different issue that the damn game will CTD randomly while I'm just walking around, with no error report in the papyrus log. It hangs in the middle of randomly casting spells - taking my entire machine with it. And my personal favorite, a perfectly valid save file will randomly not load - it CTDs on attempts to load up. again, for no reason I can fathom at all. There are times I hate this game. Absolutely loathe it. FO4 doesn't give me anywhere near as much trouble. 1
prinyo Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Thanks everyone for the suggestions, but everyone has it backwards I was replying to this: I can still toggle the console and type "tfc" which seems to work, but has a related problem that I might not recover full control of my hands for drawing a weapon on left mouse click - at least once I regain control of my toon following completion of the animation cycle. And to what the subject of your post says. Now I'm not sure what the problem you have is. Seems you need this. And if you don't use ENB Boost you need to start using it. And also it seems you need to make a "light" save that you can use when starting your game in order to prevent crashes on save load. Go to a place where there is nobody else except for your character and save. Use that save from now on - when you start the game load that save and then load the save you want to play. If you use Live Another Life the starting cell is a good place to make such save.
botpot333 Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 I got a weird problem with free camera in Sexlab - I have free camera mode turned on for sexlab scenes , but during sex the camera sometimes switches back to 3rd person, and I have switch it back every time and it's very annoying. I tried to reinstall SexLab, but it didn't help, and I don't have any camera related mods. Any ideas what should I try?

That free camera mode isn't badly bugged like the automatic one.
