vortexlobal Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I have been a big fan of the work that has been done on this site and have used many guides to mod games like Batman, DOA 5, Tomb Raider etc. However since i purchased my GTX 1080 card awhile back I have been unable to use programs like umod and texmod to use the mods i have collected since the GTX 1080 uses direct x 12. I have been unable to find any way to return on a temp basis to directx 9 to use these mods. Has something new been created so that I can mod these older games again? Or am I SOL because of direct x 12. Thanks for your help and keep up the good work!
27X Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 ummm texmod and umod work just fine with a 1080 any dx 9 app works just fine with a 1080, with voodoo2 any DX7 app works with a 1080. I think maybe you mean windows10, because that's a whole other story.
Sladen2019 Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 If you are running Windows 10, you will need to install the DirectX 9 runtime to play DX9 games on it. Download it from this link and run it as administrator. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
vortexlobal Posted April 21, 2017 Author Posted April 21, 2017 Right on, and how do i turn it back to DX12 when im done playing the games? Sorry I am on windows 10, i was thinking that the GTX 1080 required DX12
Sladen2019 Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 DX12 is part of Windows 10. Your 1080 simply has the ability to use DX12. It never gets turned off. Installing DX9 simply adds the necessary files to play DX9 games. It doesnt remove or disable DX12. DX12 will always be there.

Some of the mods had reg files that would makes changes in the registration that said after you were done you would have to run a seperate file to go back to like DX 10 i think. So just wanted to make sure.
Sladen2019 Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Some games have patches to make their game dx9 or so compatible.
