Since we’re all playing virtual dress up with our dolls here’s mine and her name’s Hilde, or as everyone in her seemingly bittersweet life calls her - Hilt.

(Check Spoilers for full backstory :-:)

Spoiler

Because if there’s any common ground between her and the numerous individuals that have become a part of her storied life, it’s the fact that all they know about this woman and who she was before being found on the fields of Whiterun one Morndas evening is the fact that her name’s hilt. The name was inscribed into her ‘Sword’, a contraption of alloys stronger than orichalcum yet weaker than ebony put together with a finesse that reminds scholars of the Dwemer yet is a sharp delineation from the tonal-steam based technology of the former Mer. A blade that hymns in a perpetual mechanical growl, striking curiosity in the Winterhold apprentices and Synod exiles passing through Whiterun, fear in the superstitious like the countless every men and women of Whiterun who don’t even know that the Mer come from different provinces and not ‘Cyrodiil’ and opportunity in those with something to gain from such a discovery, with the Battle Borns and Gray Manes escalating their feuds to win the trust of this stranger and her breathing weapon while the companions keep a watchful eye on this stranger, with Kodlak advocating for this stranger to join their ranks and trying to maintain peace between the circle that tears itself apart with discourse over what to do with this stranger along with the Gray Manes and Battle Born, keeping this woman safe from outside parties like the Synod and Winterhold. Thanks to a query by Jarl Balgruuf to investigate this stranger further in exchange for supplies, a temporary place to live and some minor former assets belong to victims of the civil war, the Dragonsreach Court Wizard Farengar deduced that the tattoos adorning her skin are actually Runes of some kind inscribed into her skin, bolstering a stupendous resistance to Magicka as a whole but also simultaneously completely severing her from Magicka as a whole. Reaching a logical ceiling when it came to deducing her origins, Farengar would make a rather controversial suggestion to Jarl Balgruuf, Irileth and Avenicci when he suggested that they extradite her to Raven Rock to better deduce her origins with the aid of a Telvanni Apprentice and long time contact to Farengar from his days as a mage wandering what remains of Morrowind after the red mountain eruption, Ildari Sarothril. This would also help bring some much needed peace back to Whiterun by removing this contentious stranger and removing yet another thorn from the backs of the squabbling families and companions. In truth, Farengar is pretty sure that this Woman doesn’t belong in this Kalpa (timeline) and had been yanked from another with the aid of an entity that can’t be the Aedra and isn’t any Daedra he knows of, a part of him dreading the possibility that she’s an agent of Mephala or even the Daedra herself employing some sick ruse to toy with the already desperate court of Dragonsreach and all of Whiterun, Skyrim even. Thus, the decision was made and Hilt would be sent to Raven Rock, surely to be heard from again once she found the answers to the only question that matters to her or decides that it doesn’t matter. Either way, her presence alone has set forth a chain of events that will change the course of Skyrim or even Tamriel forever.

She’s an adept Swordsman, employing techniques innate to her sub conscious and is incredibly athletic, showing immense aptitude in traversing her environment be it on horizontally or vertically, showing a degree of balance and control over her centre of gravity that would make a Khajiit raise a brow. She isn’t the strongest or mightiest around, but is quick, observant and almost graceful in her targeted strikes and meticulous study of her opponent, circumstances and herself gauging her chances and never compromising. She’s tall and slender, taller than most men, women, Mer and beastfolk almost like an Altmer leading many to believe that she may have some High Elf  ancestry/heritage which would be ironic or explain something regarding her Anti-Magicka runes. She’s demonstrated a near suicidal lack of self preservation during instances where defeat seems but a matter of consequence, willing to trade her own health in exchange for honour and is self critical, taking full responsibility for herself even when it isn’t her fault or problem. Her beauty has accumulated a fair share of aspiring suitors to admire from a distance well aware of her potency in lethality and generally just unsavoury folk arrogant in their disregard for her lethality.

Hilt is a deeply conflicted person, unsure of who she even is and what it all even means. She claims to not really care and tries to avoid any and all information that could paint a better picture of her past as she feels defined by something she or no one knows, being at the mercy of assumptions, second hand advice and ideological debates. Her very existence invites conflict to those who belong to the natural order she has disturbed. She is terrified of what will happen to the person she is now once she knows of the person she used to be. The accusations of being a tool of Mephala or the Daedra herself made life in Skyrim difficult and Solstheim bothersome and overly flattering. She simply wants to be as is and run off into the wild but those around her won’t let her. They never do.

she enjoys reading, allowing herself to escape into another world, taking substances like sleeping tree sap to further delve into escapism, keeping herself physically fit through a regiment of excercise and sword training and sex. A lot of sex. She doesn’t trust herself and doesn’t trust others, so sex is her merely learning trust or so she tells herself. Her enjoyment of recreational procreation comes and goes like the seasons but the attention of others stays on her regardless like a cliff racer. She has begun to take a liking to hunting, enjoying the challenge and all the different places the hunt takes her and this has irked the interest of a certain Huntsman of the Princes. Many a local during her time in Whiterun took to calling her ‘Hilde’, Nordicising ‘Hilt’ into something that rolled off their tongue easier and made them and her feel more at home tho before she would come to her senses after being found in the open fields of Whiterun the guards and subsequently some of the companions took to calling her ‘Sigil-Bearer’ or more informally ‘Raven Long-Legs’ (courtesy of Farkas and Ria). She eats three meals a day (breakfast lunch and dinner) and will make exceptions depending on how sated she feels. She prefers food to be on the spicier, more flavourful side but will make exceptions for meals prepared with butter and garlic.

She prefers catches of the water compared to land, with a preference for Salmon and Mudcrab tho she does like a good cut of mammoth steak. She sleeps on her back as she feels too vulnerable sleeping on either side and keeps her blade with her, meditating to the guttural mechanical whirring of her blade which makes sleeping with her, next to her or around her a bit of a pain and very much a risk. She prefers to be lightly armoured to keep her lighter and more nimble, seeing as her runes give her an insanely strong resistance to magic - novice spells tickle her and expert level spells feel like a well placed kick in the gut. Being hit by magic seemingly allows her to absorb said magic and make her more resistant to physical damage such as cuts, gashes, blunt force trauma etc and give her more stamina. To her being hit by magic feels like ‘waking up in the middle of the night and not feeling the urge to lay whatsoever’ to the point where those who give her company in her brief mercenary endeavours were personally encouraged to ‘charge her up’ with novice level destruction spells. She is however susceptible to master illusion spells and her resistance to magic also means that healers and those versed in restoration are as useful to her as binoculars would be to a Falmer.

She is insecure about her runes, making her feel more like a weapon than a person as she sees little difference between her runes and ornamental decoration to a blade. She despises being reduced to an instrument of warfare. While flattered by the attention she gets because of her looks she finds it bothersome when she’s focused on deeds beyond informal socialising and her time in Tamriel keeps getting more and more occupied by the later as time goes on. She is very emotive, being described as almost ‘eccentric’ by those who know her but not always in a comedic way. She likes both men and women, and isn’t averse to sleeping with or being romantically involved in any of the sapient and intelligent races of Tamriel but isn’t occupied by this as much as those around her and especially those with expectations of the romantic kind. She is rather snarky and rude to those she is attracted to and doesn’t know why. So far the only instance of romance experienced by her that wasn’t casual intercourse was between her and an aspiring Bosmer graduate of the Bard’s college and former Thieves Guild member Araros Elmlock which was a brief long distance relationship long before Hilt got extradited to Solstheim (get it?) and that itself was a short lived fling born out Elmlock’s authenticity, charisma and expertise in hunting right around when Hilt first started gaining an interest in hunting and of course Hilt threatening to break Elmlock’s flute over his head and hang him by the shirt on the roof if he didn’t stop playing and letting her sleep in peace

Who knows what awaits Hilt on her path to fulfilment. She certainly doesn’t know. Maybe it’s best if she didn’t.

I would love to know from which mod those shoes and stockings are.
