TJHinSkyrim Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I downloaded a mod that adds a piece of clothing that uses biped slot 39, but unfortunately I want it use this clothing in conjunction with another clothing mod that also uses biped slot 39. I want to change the biped slot on one of the items of clothing to another slot. When I change it in FO4Edit, the mesh simply disappears in game. I presume that I also have to change the slot in the .nif file (like I did in Skyrim when I did this) but I can't find where to do so in the .nif file. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Varithina Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 You need to change the slot in both the armour section and the relevant armor addon, not too sure about if you need to change it in the nif as well.
TJHinSkyrim Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 I thought I was doing that, but I must have been missing a step. Anyway, everything seems to be working now! Also, there's a step-by-step guide here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5288370-how-to-change-the-slot-a-clothing-item-will-use/&do=findComment&comment=46866440
Varithina Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 As long as its working now that's good to go then, must admit I find xedit for any game cluncky has hell to do any armour edits with, I spend more time trying to find what I want to edit than doing the edits, then of course waiting for the min or so while xedit then asks do you really want to edit this, even when I just choose edit does my head in, ck is much easier for me. Though trying to do something like val item sorting patches with the ck is damn tedious, especially with the script for xedit he has provided on the sse page.
TJHinSkyrim Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 Uh... I think I might have spoken too soon. When I remove the body from a mesh and then edit the item to change it from slot 33 to another slot, it doesn't show up correctly in-game. When equipped in-game, the edited item seems to change the rest of the in-game body. As you can see from the image above, when the bikini bottom is equipped, the body gets "fatter" as evidenced by the massive wrist seam. There's also some clipping around the hip area that's not visible in the image. Can anyone tell me why this happens and how to fix it?
TJHinSkyrim Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 I think I've just found the error, and it's not anything I expected. What I was doing in creating my mod was correct, but in-game, I was using the "One Ring to Nude Them All" from Armorsmith Extended to "clear" the NPCs before using modular armor. If I equip the "One Ring to Nude Them All" on an NPC, then equip the bikini bottom, I get the mismatch from my image. If I equip something else, an outfit that is simply shoes with a body mesh attached (i.e. uses only slot 33) for instance, then equip the bikini bottom, I DON'T get the mismatch. The "One Ring to Nude Them All" uses biped slots 33, 34, 35, 51, 52 & 53, so maybe one of those causes the issue. Or perhaps its the fact that the "One Ring to Nude Them All" uses three different ARMA flags. Anyway - further investigation is required.
TJHinSkyrim Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 In case someone stumbles across this thread, I found out what I was doing wrong. In the mods I was creating, I was duplicating existing Armor Addons, rather than creating new ones. This, for whatever reason, was creating the mismatch. Now that I'm using new Armor Addons, everything is working wonderfully. Varithina - thanks for your help!
