Frozium Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Whenever I change Skyrim's graphic setting or when ENB starts it tells me Skyrim is using the Intel HD cards instead of my Nvidia one. However, I've set the Nvidia card to work with Skyrim on the Nvidia control panel. So is Skyrim really using the Nvidia one or is it using the Intel one? Here's a screenshot of the ENB status:
Yuuen Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 ENB is clearly using the intel one, as it states. What one does your skyrimprefs.ini say you're using? Are you running your monitor off a mobo slot or off your graphics card? Because if you use the mobo one, unless you disable intel graphics it will use it.
khumak Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Not sure if this is required, but SkyrimPrefs.ini has a section where you can specify your graphics card. Maybe if you don't set it ENB just uses the first one on the list which is probably the integrated graphics chip. In my case: SkyrimPrefs.ini [Display] sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760"

Skyrimprefs.ini says I'm using the Intel one, can I just type my actual NVIDIA card there? Also, I don't know what's a mobo slot, all I know is that I'm using a laptop.

From memory that's just what it configures the settings for when you first run the launcher, I don't think changing what card it says there will do anything. If you're running it from a laptop and it's not defaulting to your graphics card then your BIOS mustn't be configured properly, try disabling intel graphics.

Do you have any utility where you can see what card is actually getting used? Like msi afterburner or something similar. EDIT: It could just be how it's getting reported to the game/enb since it's most likely in a hybrid setup since it's a laptop.

The second statement came to my mind when creating this thread, that's why I'm asking.

Is NVIDIA GeForce experience valid?

Is NVIDIA GeForce experience valid? Not really, only lists system info not realtime monitoring. I use Asus GPU Tweak, but Msi afterburner or Nvidea Inspector should also work.

Did it with NVIDIA Inspector. Here's the screenshot: The name is correct.

The point was to run the game and see if anything changes within that, but at least you've got base values to compare to.
