SD+ or Maria Eden

Lately I reconsidered my plugin list for skyrim and I have a question. What is more stressful for papyrus and the skyrim system in general SD+ with all its requirements or Maria Eden with all its requirements? Which of them considering their requirements is more stable with less impact on other higly scripted plugins?

my first thought:

=> it depends what you want

* ME (zaz based):

- consensual slavery

- forced/consensual prostitution

- the consensual part feels a bit like modern BDSM

- you will realy feel powerless if you end up as a slave of someone of your choice, you will hate and love your domi npc

- mainly stand alone mod

- less shiny bondage devices, mainly zaz

- lots of zaz funiture bondage no other mod offers in this quality and quantity

- extremly dynamic NPC interaction

- many suprise events you never thought possible in skyrim

- highly customizable, choose clothes for npc and yourself, give clothes effects, set up zaz funiture with effect everywhere, give NPCs a job like slaver/pimp, make whole taverns to a brothel, spawn your sex pets and much more

- more controlable and always possible immersive animations for your char, like kneeling, posing in variations animations, dancing, cleaning and so on

- you have to set up many things in the mod first so it works like intended, its not fast food and it takes a while to find out how it works

- build in light weight defeat system (that works with creatures and humans)

- is not fully compatible to DDi series, which in turn lowers the quantity of mods you can combine with ME, which in turn makes it less scrip heavy too ;D

- starts many sexlab mods automatically in the right order on first game load with a new char

 

* SD+ (ddi based):

- forced slavery as outcome of lost battles

- more fantasy like slavery

- DDi compatible, means lots of DDi based mods to choose from to combine with SD+ like deviously cursed loot

- works well with defeat, death alternative, deviously enslaved continued

- offers combination with simple slavery and devious framework

- much less complex slavery than ME, but more possibilities to get into forced slavery

- offers a lot of different creatures as masters you cant get from ME

- biggest plus is the vast quantity of mods you can combine with SD+ through DDi based and "aroused" mods

- lots of shiny bondage thx to DD mods (gotta love that hobble skirt, and mittens and those awesome boots, those AWESOME BOOTS)

- SD cages if you like to sleep in cages

- sd+ is easy to configure, but be careful with the load order or you might quicky break things with mod combinations

- followers can get enslaved too with SD+

 

second tought (and experiance) is:

-> it mainly depends what mods you will combine with ME or SD+

ME is pretty much stand alone, i use mainly clothing, towns and city mods, populated series mods with ME, so mods that dont need a lot of papyrus ressources

SD+ i cant stop myself and add tons of interesting and often WIP mods

 

maria eden is less stressful for papyrus,

because it works mainly via skyrim story manager and has already a lot of functionality other mods can only offer with a wall of added support mods

if i load my ME load order configuration for skyrim i get the impression my skyrim sighs with relief

 

SD+ gets script heavy fast because of the mods it needs and supports like:

DD series, aroused, defeat, death alternative, sexlab dialog, and so on

basicly you will choose how script heavy it will get by adding mods of your choice

 

last toughts:

i like both mods and its sometimes a pain to decide what kind of LL skyrim i want to build

if i only would look for papyrus stress its clearly ME

but either mods have a special unique feeling to them so i wouldnt use papyrus stress as base for my choice, rather take your time and play around with both

i heard MO is nice to make different mod profiles and to switch easily (after you found out how it works)

(yes yes i use NMM, i am lazy and change stuff way to often and quick, feeding the trolls here yarr harr)

(uh and btw both have there unique bugs too, no chance to make such complex mods without getting some error into it)

Thanks for such complete answer. I have 200+ mods in my load order so the impact on system is of a great importance to me. The PC itself works fine but for skyrim it's a real chalange. I realy like SD+ and devious sidhna for instance but al this DD mods just kills the game the longer I play the more troubles with CTD's and dead saves. So ME is my choice if it's realy treat skyrim more gentle)))

 

And yes I use NMM too)

well than i was a bit to careful not to promote one mod too much ;D

 

right now i use ME (for slavery )with DDI mods (for experiments) and so i created a script heavy game again -.-

just read a bit through the most actual forum entrys of ME to get a hint what might help with the ddi/me gag talk conflict if you cant resist using DDi mods with ME (like me)

 

ME hints:

* after define clothes reload the game to get the effect

* if you set zazfuniture with the ME builder, fix them with jaxonz positioner key "drop" so it gets saved for the next game you start with ME

* give your domi some gold/jewelery and go shopping for some suprise

* if you want to surrender to creatures use the "on all fours" animation, they get the hint pretty quick

* you find all saved clothes and choosen pimps in skse->plugins->storageutildata if you want to delet some of them later

* if enslaved forget about sleeping in taverns xD

You seem like you know a lot about DD-related mods and Maria Eden, so I wanted to ask a couple of questions I've been wondering about.

 

Firstly, how incompatible are DD mods and Maria Eden? Is it just the gag talk conflict you mentioned, or are there other issues as well?

 

Also, how script-heavy is it to have DD Assets, DD Integration and DD Expansion in your load order if you hardly actually use them? There are two mods I want to use but am holding off for the time being, one is Devious Butt which currently requires all three (but I would be disabling all DD-related features of it in the MCM anyway). The other is the DD version of Derogatory Guards (which again, I'd be disabling most of the DD-related stuff anyway). I guess the fact that Sexual Aroused is a requirement of DD integration plays a factor, since that's what I assume is a pretty script-heavy mod.

 

I have a pretty stable game right now so I don't want to ruin it with too many script-heavy mods. But I'm just wondering how much of an effect the DD mods could have if I only include them as dependencies but don't really use them.

thx but i mainly only know how to use them ^^

 

first off: ME and SD+ have bugs that might bring you to a dead end and you will have to reload earlier saves, its just the complexity of the mods and everything you add via extra mods might interfere

 

my experiance with the incompatibility is:

* gag talk, you cant talk with a gag in ME, not at all, you want be able to talk your way out with DD gagtalk (workaround: use console to remove gag, change ME gag events via tesvedit)

* DDi events: if you get a plug in ME it will fire DDi Event with animation for plugs (or empty belt animation or horny animation) and this will break any bondage from ME like for example being in a hogtie (workaround, just set those dd events to 0%), it will break all other animation from ME too if the timing is bad

* you can remove zaz/dd devices via ddi and break a quest of ME because the mod still things your under control by a zaz item and it will try to remove the item after the quest, but its not there anymore, so ME gets confused

* ME heaviely depends on the items your wear, for example the collar for being a slave, clothes for being a whore, heels for...err... to make your domi lucky. So if you get into lockable DD stuff (collar) you might get into conflicts with ME quests

* ME puts enchantments on items you define and those wont work with DD lockable DD items, means if you define lockable DD heels via ME as "sexy heels" the ME Quests will prefent you to remove those heels even if you unlocked them with a key, and because there is no quest running for those heels your get stuck with those or a script of ME gets stuck... confusing...

-> thats just the obvious problems i found, for more incompatibilitys i am experimenting around right now, mainly to find out what messes up ME dialoges (without the gag^^)

 

i actualy feel ingame the skript heavieness (so to say) of DD/aroused mods mainly only on game load or if there are a lot of NPCs around or many mods fire at the same time. that might cause lag and this might cause scripts or dialoges to fail.

 

DD and aroused dont wait just till they get used:

depending on your settings DDi is checking for items and events on your char and surronding NPCs all the time

depending on your settings aroused searches and updates your char and surronding NPCs all the time

 

other mods in your load order do so too, like more nasty critters or devious butt and so on,

so it all adds up, every mod for itself doesnt have a huge impact on papyrus, its just the combination that will kill your game

 

i am thinking about what i would call ll-script-heavy-monster-o-mods:

favorites are:

deviously cursed loot (on itself)

SD+ (incl support mods)

ME (on itself)

DDi + Aroused (the combo)

deviously enslaved continued (on itself)

so i normaly build my game around those and try not to add to much more script heavy mods from other sources, and i fail always miserable cause i just want it all ^^

 

i play around with sexist guards too right now and it seems to work just fine, mainly it just changes vanilla dialog events if i understand that correct

 

i never tried to have mods in my load order not to run full power, means i have everything the MCM offers switched on, unless it will end in mod conflicts

would be interesting if you just try it and tell how it goes

ME itself has s requirement of dd assets so you can't completely get rid of the DD mods. But loosing most of them is a gret relief for skyrim.

On the other hand I use defeat since it first time apeared on LL but as I understand ME has some issues with it too because of the surrender system and after bleedout event conflict. But the first thing if you decide to surrender in battle decide first what do you want to get in the end and bind different keys to both mods.

 

Never use too much DD mods in parallel so if you need dd assets, integration and expansion it's already too much so forget about all other dd mods.

you dont need to get rid of all DD stuff

DDa: those are the basic devious devices, with bodyslide, textures, enchantments, doesnt need DDi

 

DDx: those are the shiny devious devices and the expansion of DDa, it needs DDi to work

DDi: this is the script part that connects DDa and DDx while adding events, chance of escape, check for NPCs, debuffs, animations, blindfold effect and all the sexy stuff you find in the MCM, DDi is what makes it incompatible with ME

 

zaira works on ME to make it completley independent of the DD series to focus on the ZAZ requirement

he plans to make a plugin so the user can make some DD items compatible to ME

 

DD series is awesome

ME is magic

to bad they dont get along, but i understand zaira that he wants to focus on his mod and reduce scripts because he invented a unique script monster thats hard to make compatible with other mods that to same things with another script approach

 

what i want to say is those mods are all amazing and we users have to choose without any hate

I have never get the full impression from ME cause sd+ was always on my load order as must have mod. But lately aside from heavy scripting that ruins the game it has become a little dull. So i desided to give ME a try)))

One thought about ME: zaira is working on a big update, i have no clue when it'l be finished, i'm waiting for months now... but that hopefully means it won't last long until it's finished. It might be worth it to wait, especially because a new game will, even if not required, at least recommended with all those changes. If SD+ becomes boring, some other DD-based mods like Captured Dreams, Shout like a virgin and Slaverun reloaded, maybe Island of Mara and Prison overhaul + patches might be a good thing to spend some time while waiting for the ME update.
