Help me optimize and stabilize my game, please.

Hello loverslab people.

 

Skyrim Special Edition recently came out but I have found myself returning to the Skyrim before as the Special Edition are still lacking a lot of mods that have been very good at helping me surviving a terrible console to PC port.

 

However this time I can not just sit by and watch my game be a hellish, unstable mess, it is just painful.

 

These are my specs, part of it at least.

 

 

Processor Intel® Core i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz

 

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

 

RAM 8.0 GB

 

Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 14393), 64-bit

I very much assume that with this spec I should be able to run Skyrim with little to no trouble at all, yet this is sadly not the case.

 

I have been looking at guides to improve my game, but the guides are either outdated which provides links that are no longer available or simply not working (perhaps because they are outdated).

 

The problem I am facing is largely a constant fps drop, I limit the game's FPS using NVIDIA's Vertical Sync rather than Skyrim's, but it still dives from 60 to 10 FPS which in turn makes the whole game stutter.

 

I am either an absolute dumbass or a confused soul, I like to believe the latter, so I do request some help or perhaps a finger pointing me in the right direction.

 

Someone might share or have shared the same specs and have Skyrim running perfectly fine, I do hope.

I have exactly the same specs .

then make sure you install skse and enb(for the boost) and it runs better than before.

with that gpu and cpu you cant use all texture 4k. I use almost only 1K and some 2k textures. 

And dont use to much script heavy mods and you should be fine

It is a fresh install as of now; went directly from special edition back to the previous skyrim. SKSE was one of the first things I installed. I usually settle for immersion mods, frostfall (campfire is needed too now), realistic needs and diseases, and I usually install Requiem too.

 

Other mods that I do differ between are mods such as immersive AI and others mods that change NPC behaviours.

 

Graphical mods are not my big thing but if my game is more stable and perform better than I am not shying away from improving the looks.

my advice if you start new use Mod Organizer .

even If you happy with the vanilla look of the game i recommed using enb boost. so you can use more of you vram.

but just look at the guide and take that what you like and look how it work!

Hi there,

I actually have slightly worse stats, but can run a rather packed mod setup pretty stable. I use the real vision ENB with all recommended mods with 4k textures and JKs Skyrim. Ok I not always have 30 fps but usally around 24 which is borderline ok^^ (depends really on the location)

 

It has in my experience a lot to do with your intall behavior.

 

First: use mod organizer for everything. You have full control about everything that gets installed and your skyrim folder stays clean.

 

Second: test the mods you want to use one by one on a clean test-safe. once you know which mods you want to use, install them all for your playthrough, but don't change your setup during it.

If you want to make changes, again make some testruns and then start the next longer playing sesstion with your changed setup with a new game. (I don't really stick to that rule myself, but in general, installing new mods is usually safer than uninstalling them)

I have managed to get a far more stable game, no stutter unless I reach speeds that are quite ridicolous and so far no crashes either.

 

Now I just need to figure out why I have to try and load my save game three-five times; it gives me CTDs the first few attempts before finally working and loading.

What?

I ask myself the question: What do you do when installing Skyrim SE?

This installation is 100% separate and does not overwrite a single bit of Skyrim.

Also in Steam both games are completely separate.

I hope you uninstalled the old Skyrim NOT - before her SSE installed.

Make sure you're adding the ini tweaks people reccomend for their ENB if you're using one. A few settings can make the difference between load and crash.

 

I know someone who was having an issue with his GPU maxing out during loadscreens/loading save and crashing because it wasnt disabling itself until the loading was done. Can turn it off manually if you're having issues, might save you some time reloading over and over.

You're talking about the 1st load after starting the game, right?  After that you are okay?

 

If so, I get that too.   I thought it might have to do with loading a ton of game objects from scratch, so I have taken to looking straight up or straight down when I save.  After I load, I slowly move my field of view back to ground level, and after that I can play/save/load as normal.

This seems to help.  Not 100% but it seems like an improvement.

 

Try it and let me know if it helps you too.

I am talking about crash on load, I am not even making it into the game before it crashes... or well, I guess it makes it into the game but it crashes so fast that I don't even get a picture, this happens both outside and inside, small houses as well as larger dungeons. With and without many npcs around.

I as well need 3 to  4 tries to get into the game, but once I'm in it barly crashes so I just live with it.
