Guest Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 is it possible to have too many mods? and what happens if so? so im guessing its based on systems- mine just so happens to suck. i added a few mods to a stable fonv (with many mods) and bad things happened... very very very bad things. so bad its time to start from scratch- lucky for me i made an immediate backup prior to the bad things
noobsaleh Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 You could go over the String limit, which would mess up your saves.
Guest Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 FONV allows less mods than skyrim, when you're about 110-120-130 (active ESPs/ESMs) you start risking, it's pretty much a roulette.

Invictusblade Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 it is a hex limit, 255 = FF, basically it is a programming thing. and as for overloading the mods in the game, it would not start up or ctd or load without mods
Captain Cobra Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 But don't forget that references spawned by the player's save are stored at FF addresses, so it shouldn't be used by mods.

Guest Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 do you know what is Skyrim's roullette? i think i once heard its like 250 254, the number of active ESPs/ESMs I'm actually running. Is it stable for me? no way, but playable. 30 Mb savegame, 300 hours, it freezes every half hour. Much better than NV where I was CTD every 20 seconds with half of the mods. When, by mistake, in Skyrim I add the 255th in the load order in MO, when I'm going to reload the savegame it warns me that I miss all the mods, so I guess it refuses to load them all gun shot sounds got borked, impact effect were non existent, my pipboy meshes were "missing", and my body was invisible in game consequences are pretty much random, you can see missing meshes, purple, UI messed (an entire sentence all over a single word) etc.sometimes they are soft, you could even play and not realize it. Out of curiosity, there's a very max limit I found some time ago, after that it instantly CTD or corrupts the save: 165 minus the number of mods with at least 1 BSA
