at433 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 these new format sse nifs extracted from game bsas, is it already possible to preview/edit them? (i tried to open in nifscope 2.0.0 pre-alpha 5 and it gives me error "failed to load file footer")
myuhinny Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Have you tried using the real nifskope and not the one made more for fallout 4? To test just download the real nifskope load it up and then click on the nif which will make it open in the real one instead of 2.0. Once done you can close both nifskopes and it'll go back to only opening with 2.0.
at433 Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 sorry whuch one is the 'real nifscope'? i just tried older 1.2.0 alpha 2 from same dl page: https://github.com/niftools/nifskope/releases it also gives me errors and fails to open these new nifs
myuhinny Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 nifSkope 1.2.0 alpha 2 is the pre-release version nifskope 1.1.3 is the current release. If you look to the left of each version it'll tell you what release version it is. It could be that the new ones will need another nifskope to confuse annoy people.
ousnius Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 No, the "new NifSkope" isn't just for Fallout 4. You can use it for all games, including Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim. And it's way more stable. As Dillpickle posted, it's been updated for SSE already and you can get all releases from Jonwd7's page right now: https://github.com/jonwd7/nifskope/releases
Silvist Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Heck yea! I was waiting for this release! Thanks for the link Ousnius!
TTRJN Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Yep, 2.0 alpha 6 working for me. Look at that skeleton though... Edit: for some reason UI can't be captured in screenshot. But it works anyway.
myuhinny Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I'll stick with nifskope 1.1.3 because 2.0 has too many bugs from I can see from glossing things that are not glossed to messed up lighting. Though it does look it has finally been updated to be able to export 1 piece at a time in .OBJ format from a nif instead of having to delete everything but one thing out before exporting or it would export the whole thing which caused the mesh in the .OBJ for blow up when imported into outfit studio (SK). So I might just throw it into my use only when needed pile and throw the old version away.
Guest Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 How do you export .obj? when i do it in Alpha 6 it exports the obj but dose not show up when importing.
myuhinny Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 When you click a item in the nif and go to file - export - export nif the .OBJ and .mtl file get placed in your niftools niskope folder in program folder. If you have the nifskope placed else where then they will be placed in that folder. Like I have nifskope 2.0 place in a separate folder and when I export with it the .OBJ files get placed in the folder that it is in. Another way to get them is to hit file - export again and drag each one to outfit studio one file at a time. To load them into outfit studio just start outfit studio and select start new project - select body - select .OBJ file hit open. If you have more .OBJ parts hit load and select the next .OBJ file. Now in .OBJ format the outfit is going to be super huge as .OBJ format doesn't support skinning so you will have to mass select all of the parts and scale them down to correct size all at the same time.
Guest Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 the .obj file is empty when i open it up in blender. here is an example Example.zip

The gloss you're seeing on the head is accurate. That's because the head was saved incorrectly in that NIF, you need to disable normals and tangents on it in the NiTriShapeData. The game applies model space normal maps to it, that's why normals are unused.
Guest Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 It is an empty OBJ file. Exactly!!! every time i export as an .obj it just makes it into an empty file. the file was the femalebody_1.nif from the SSE mesh0.bsa and it shows up in nifskope and everything. UPDATE: So it appears the new Meshes wont Export. it did it once but not now it wont so i assume NifSkope Alpha 6 is not solid on exporting still
myuhinny Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I will not have to worry about that as I won't be playing SSE anytime soon as I see no point in playing it. The head is just a normal skyrim head that I use when working on outfits in outfit studio that require a head as outfit studio doesn't have a head mesh to use. So I add a head node in the nif then paste the head mesh into the nif so that I can adjust the hat hair helmet or whatever it is correctly in outfit studio.

myuhinny Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Thanks for the info. The head gets deleted out anyway so I won't have to worry about that as I only have it in till I'm sure what i'm working on looks correct and will not look stupid too big or too small. The outfit in the picture is also glossy all over the place with some spots glossy and some spot looking like it's lighting is messed up. Most of the parts have both gloss and the lighting error.
