Spartan092 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 So yeah, I've been looking everywhere and all I found on FO4 merges, was Eli's little guide for litlle mods. But me, I've got more armor/clothing mods that I can count, about 50 weapon mods, too many 4k retextures and, well, you get it, tons of mods that should be "mergeable" together... Like I said previously, only know how to merge very little mods on FO4, I've briefly read guides about the ones I want for previous games, but I've been told that they don't apply for FO4. So, if someone could explain it all to me, point me to a relevant guide, or even give me small tips, I'd be infinitely grateful ! I can't give you a load order (changed pc, have all the mods in my favorites [yeah, at least 500 mods I'll have to download/install]and some on USB), but since we're not really doing specifics, it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for whoever takes some of their time for me !
Halstrom Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 As far as I know there is no merging tool available yet. The only way to do so is using FO4Edit manually copying assets from one esp to another. I would only merge simple clothing/weapon mods, anything with scripts is probably going to fail.

I can't vouch for it since I haven't tried it myself but here it is in case anyone wants to experiment.
Spartan092 Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 Thanks for the fast replies, means a lot ! As far as I know there is no merging tool available yet. Yeah I figured so, it's okay since these are the one overwhelming me, Fallout 4 is probs the worst Fallout (RPG and semi-Story wise), but it IS modding Heavens. Thanks for the tips ! Last time I checked, that program doesn't work as intended, or maybe it's a similar program I'm using. But either way, it doesn't load certain mods, because the load list on that program is skewed, so I'm waiting for an update. I have a similar problem where I want to merge my mods. However, I have a question. Would merging all of those mods effect in-game items? Say, I have a weapon I've modded and named, etc. I'm using it, say I merge my mods. Will it disappear and will I have to re-acquire it?
Mercenary666 Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 When you merge esp's, you're actually creating a new ESP with new FormIDs and you'll be deleting the old unneeded ESP's that you just merged. So yes, whatever existed under the old ESP's will be gone. At least that's how it was when I made my own merges in Skyrim. I don't think it's changed in Fallout 4. Also, if you decide to do this, I'd strongly recommend that you first unequip ALL weapons, clothing, armor, accessories etc that might be merged. I remember an issue in Skyrim where if you uninstalled a weapon mod that your character had equipped, loading the save would instantly make the game CTD. There is also an issue in Fallout 4 where if you UPGRADE a clothing or armor mod that your character is currently wearing, certain buffs that the clothing may give can get permanently "stuck" on your character. Even if you then uninstall the mod, the buffs will remain. I know this for a fact from personal experience.
RustyXXL Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Nowadays merge plegins works pretty good for most mods. the 3 major things it can't solve are mods that reference per script function GetFormFromFile() to other esps, mods that require a .dll and mods that edit navmeshes. The former ones are usually mods that implement stuff from other mods, without having them as a master. Usually a modder shouldn't need to reference per getformfromfile to it's own file. the 2nd are easily recognisable because they either put something in the skse directory or require something from the skse directory. The Navmeshes can technically be corrected by opening the resulting merge in the ck and resaving it, in my case usually the loadorder after the merge is usually still to big for the CK to handle. Keep in mind that you need to set the esm flag (Not Rename!) on all required esp masters, otherwise the CK will not keep any formids referencing these masters. You also might want to redate the plugins, so they appear in the correct order in the ck. The esmifying can be done with wrye Bash, the redating can easily be done in loot. That said most armor and weapon mods should merge without major problems, Realistic Water 2, RLO, Climates of Tamriel all merged fine for me, as do most compatibility patches for mods like frostfall, campfire, Hunterborn and RnD. One final note: make sure to have champollion setup in merge patch for you, so merge patch can solve script fragment issues and if you want the resulting assets packed in a bsa you also need bsaopt setup in merge patch
