Halo's "HTools" Tongue Mod conflicting with Devious Devices

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm trying to use Halo's tongue mod found here (http://mod.dysintropi.me/htongues/#comment-3762) and I notice that I'm not able to equip tongues when the devious devices mods are active. I saw from the comments that someone figured out that the conflict has to do with slot 50, and they mention that it can be changed so that they both can be active.

Could someone help me figure out how to change the slot 50 in the devious devices mod(s) so that I can equip the tongues? I'm kind of a novice at modding so I don't know how to change the mod like that if it's some kind of coding.

Depending on how many files devious devices has it might be easier to change the slots for the tongues instead as there are less of them to change.

To change the slots you will need both nifskope and the CK (creation kit). Nifskope can be found here. https://github.com/niftools/nifskope/releases Download NifSkope 1.2.0 Alpha 2 or NifSkope 1.1.3 do not download 2.0 as that is fallout 4 one and it also has a lot of options missing in it. The CK can be downloaded from steam under tools.

1. Load up one of the tongue nifs into nifskope click the tongue and look for BSDismemberSkinInstance underneath the highlighted line to the left. Click the arrow to get the drop down then the click arrow next to Partitions to get a drop and change the slots to SBP_35_AMULET or SBP_40_TAIL save once you set it.

2. Load up the CK select the tongue .esp and set it to active and hit ok. Wait awhile as it will be awhile for it to load everything up. 2 error popups will pop up hit yes to all for both. Click the word armor and scroll through the list till you find the tongues double click and change the slot to what you change it to in the nif next click on the word armor addon and find them again and do the same for the slots. Once everything is done hit save to overwrite the .esp.

Is there a list somewhere of "a lot of options missing"?

I'm using the latest Nifskope 2.0 Pre-alpha 5, and I have editied a big number of nifs, changing slots, adding HDT, NiO, textures, alpha and I haven't had any issues.

Reviewing the link and it's logs of features, I did see the one issue further down of spec, but of one my most visually fun game assets arose partly because of changing the spec value in the latest nifskope LOL.

Just curious as to what I may be missing or potentially having issues with in future more advanced nif modding?

Also +1 rep for your detailed helpful reply to OP.

You can change the spec value in the other one as well you just won't see it change in it. You can't export a item from nifskope 2.0 into .OBJ format without it exporting the whole thing which will cause the .OBJ file to blow up in outfit studio. Which is very annoying and you will have to delete everything but 1 thing export it reloaded and repeat till all parts are exported out. No clue how to render things in it. The normal one you hit render - settings and pick the folder path it also has save as so that you can save faster without having to click tab go to this do that just to save. Not sure what else there is.

I have the normal nifskope set as my main one and have 2.0 in a folder by itself when I need to use it I load 2.0 and double click on the different nifs so that 2.0 loads.

Little late, but thanks for this.  :)

Your welcome.

The pre-alpha 6 I think works with all games now and you can now export 1 piece of a armor at a time into .OBJ format without it exporting the whole armor now. I don't use it much so I'm not sure of what it can all do.

Another +1 for you :P

Didn't know there was another release. :D

Edit: Some nice feature additions for oldrim users too.
