Slow Performance on super fast new PC

I recently upgraded to a new PC (specs below).  Installed Skyrim outside of the steam Directory in C:/Games and followed Anatriax's modding guide with the exception of some of the atmospheric mods.

 

The game boots, and most mods / functions are there, but the issue is that after a few minutes of game play (5-10) the game starts to stutter, and progressively gets worse FPS until its down to about literally under 5fps and I cannot at all figure out why.  It would seem that it is storing a bunch of used / garbage data somewhere that grinds the game down to a near halt and is literally unplayable at that point.  Restarting the game brings it back to a crisp rate that I would expect from a new gaming build, but then minutes later, is back down to 5-10FPS and does not recover by itself unless restarted.

Previously I have tried to alter the papyrus section in skyrim.ini by incrementing the first 6 items to larger numbers, per a post on the forums here, but it did very little to help the situation.

 

Graphics drivers are current and run fine otherwise.

 

I also monitor the display card for mem, proc speed, etc...none of which are coming even close to being under more than half load. 

 

I am not sure that I have used the utilities correctly at all (DynDOLOD, TES5Edit, Wyre Bash)...followed what tutorials I could find, but not sure what I am doing, what constitutes a "dirty edit" etc etc etc. No am I positive I configured papyrus logging correctly, as the only file I can find is PapyrusUtilDev.log and skse_papyrus_docs.txt (both attached).

if your game start good and down to 10 fps in 10 minutes that can be only by out of memory resources or machine over temp...

 

i presume you have tested your NEW machine with other games.. if not... make it... and test your skyrim without mod's.. disable ALL mod's and play... if you have problems with other games is a evident machine problem... but if other games run good and your skyrim without mod's run good you can have a problem in base game configuration or in some mod's

 

for monitor your machine start with task manager and look cpu and memory ussage.. for monitor CPU temp you need a program like speedfan of hwinfo (use sensor section)... for monitor GPU usage i recomend gpuz in backgound.. is a very small program... 

 

and you can try with Skyrim Performance Monitor.. this is a program designed specific for monitor Skyrim... control memory usage, cpu and gpu usage, video memory, fps, theads.. and have overlay in game if you disable ENB.. 

 

for configure your game use BethIni.. select "BetIni Presets" and "Recommended Tweaks"... BethIni can correct any change that you make to skyrim.ini and/or skyrimprefs.ini

Thank you very much for the information.  Here is an update:

 

I tested the game with the standalone skyrim, and it is stupid lightning fast.  Like, so fast.  I then tried it with Arma 2, also lightning fast. So I guess probably a base gaem configuration or some mods.  

 

I Dl'd hwinfo, SPM, BethINI and gpuz to monitor everything, thank you for those tips, very useful tools.  I set up beth.ini as you sugested (no performance increased noticed) and have attached a screen shot of the other three running under skyrim. As you can see, my CPU temp seems to be ok...never hits over 50C.  The thread count seems high, but I am not really sure.  Notice the FPS goes to 7.  This was basically after starting a new game, and just letting it sit, not even moving or talking to statue of mara in Live Another Life.

if your skyrim without mod's run good you have a problem in mod's configuration...

 

but the first noticeable thing is your framerate.. the max value is 35 fps... i have an old gtx 660 with 2gb of video and get near 60 constant at 1920x1080 with near 170 mods now... have you ussing any frame rate limiter???  you say that arma 2 and skyrim without mod run fast.. i presume it run at minimun 60 fps in constant rate.. correct??

 

in your mod's list i see some incorrect thing.. maybe the guide that you are ussing is a bit old...

 

Unofficial Patch for Skyrim + Dawnguard + Hearthfire  has been overseed by the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch

Havok Breast Physic.esm are not need... physic are manager by ragdoll + HDT Physics Extensions + HDT Breast And Butt Physics

 

Skyrim Project Optimization are only need if you install Realistic Lighting Overhaul

 

OSA + OSEX can give some big problems if not are correctly configured.. disable it for now...

paradise halls  and Ravenous can give some problems.. disable it for now...

 

you are using DynDOLOD and can be the motive of all the problems if it is bad configured... look disabling it..

 

in last... your log can say others thing.. enable login in your skyrim.ini and look it... post the log in your message if not understand it...

 

try theses advices and tell the result..

I got the new legendary patch and disabled the others, removed Havok, OSA, OSEX, P halls and Ravenous, DynDOLOD as well as underlying mods, rebuilt wryebash bashed patched, ran loot, sorted etc.  Still maxing out at 30fps even just on the opening screen.  I double checked enblocal.ini to ebsure that the limiter is set to false, which it is, and double checked some settings there.

How much Ram is "declared" in the ENBlocal.ini? Windows 10 has an "annoying" bug with DX9 games, that enables only the use of  4GB of Videoram. If you ported an config from an older Windows 7, that made full use of the 980ti's 6GB, this might be a reson...

I disabled ENB, and nothing.  After experimenting around, it seems like "HDT ALL in One" was causing the memory leak (ie, starting kinda meh and then getting down to less that 10 FPS).  After disabling that mod, it seems that it runs MUCH smoother and does not degrade over time.  I re-enabled ENB and it also works with DynDOLOD as well.  So it looks like the leak was HDT All in one.

 

However I still seem to be unable to get above 31 FPS.  Max I've seen so far.  At least it doesnt get worse as time goes regardless of what I do in game.  So that part is solved.  Any where I can look or check to see if my FPS are being limited programatically?

 

Is it possible that the vid card driver is doing that?

Is something like Nvidias Adaptive Vsync enabled in your driver? IIRC this locks FPS at MonitorFrequency/2.

It does sound like you had an incompatible skeleton installed, which can cause performance degradation when actors with the incompatible skeleton are around.

i have ONLY ragdoll + HDT Physics Extensions + HDT Breast And Butt Physics and all things in my game have physic.. boobs, buts, hairs, tails, scholong... all... remove all your hdt components and use only theses mod's... if any thing not have physic in your game can be by incorrect model... physic model need specific mesh with hdt enabled.. and this is another history...

 

for monitor fps in real time in all games you can use fraps... is too small and work in 32x and 64x games and is compatible with near all overlays programs like ENB, SPM, MSI Afterburner, VGA Precision X...

 

install fraps and launch your arma2.. you can see the fps limit with fraps too clear..

 

if you have any frame limiter fraps can say it too clear... i recomend use VSync in all your games because prevent tearing and reduce unnecesary machine usage.. your eyes can't see the diference over 60 fps... until you use Virtual Reality and need 120 fps.. 60 for each eye...

 

and appear you are following my recomended steps in back way.. i say..
"disable ALL mod's and test.. verify that the game work good.. enable some mod's... 3 or 5 and test.. if good.. add another 3 or 5... until locate the offending mod..."

 

i say disable ALL and ADD groups of 5 mod's until locate the problem...

 

and this is exactly because you can have some mod's bad configured givin simultaneous problems... disable some mod's can resolve some problems.. like you see.. but not help locating the basic problem... please... follow the recomendations...

I did find that setting, and no.  I ensured that regular v-sync was on, and not the half refresh version, or any kind of adaptive.  The monitors are capable of 144Hz refresh, but are running on 60.

 

 

 

AND we got it!!!   No idea why really.  So I finally got the geforce experience to work.  Had to manually install the drivers before, and had problems with the Nvidia Gforce experience software not crashing on boot.  A windows update came through, and I tried to reinstall it...

 

After that, was able to resintal the geforce experience which has an "optimize" for game x option.  It detected skyrim and I optimized it.  And low and behold, beautiful 60FPS.  So it must have had a setting in the driver somewhere that the software removed when optimizing. I'll try and put back in HDT.

EDIT: Yes...HDT All in one takes the now 60FPS game back down to 17 as soon as it loads and stays there.  Probably my cfgr of it, but that was the source of the memory leak, and a driver setting that was locking me down to ~30 fps.

Another question if available.  Know its not the place, but rather than start a new thread...I am now only using ragdolol, HDT PHys and HDT BBP.  Would you mind sharing what body slide presets you use to not have it be meh or have huge spikes out the belly?

Already got fixed I see but I was immediately gonna suggest you had something HDTpe /SMP related in there.  I edited HDT havok object.esp the other day and took all the outfits out of it.

Big performance increase and no more spazzy boobs, disappearing female npc's.  All it does is handle collisions after all so I just use the console to add the object manually to an npc if I feel like it.

That's not a game issue, that's a system issue. Your hardware specs are okay but not what I'd call super fast by any means to be honest but that's not an issue here depending on ENB and your ini file editing.

Windows 10 is garbage (I know what I'm talking about). You don't see MS giving away free copies of Windows 7 or anything else for that matter that benefits you except TweakUI, that was cool back in the day.

Rhetorically speaking, check system temps and bios for throttling and lose Windows 10. 10 doesn't like DX9 titles.

SSD's and in game disk caching is an issue. Look it up.

Are you using mempatch?

And.. how well did the game run on that system in it's vanilla state?

Heavy scripting can be an issue for Papyrus.

Papyrus can have a poop if you change it's values.

Do you have system cache enabled or not. If so how large is the swap file and how much free space is there?

Is that SSD your only hdd. If so, it's not enough.

The behaviour you describe is either a memory leak or the PC is running out of whatever resource, and it's not a memory leak.

Heavy scripting can be an issue for Papyrus.

Papyrus can have a poop if you change it's values.

Do you have system cache enabled or not. If so how large is the swap file and how much free space is there?

Is that SSD your only hdd. If so, it's not enough.

The behaviour you describe is either a memory leak or the PC is running out of whatever resource, and it's not a memory leak.

Actually, it was a game issue.  The system while not the fastest on the planet is well fast enough.  The original problem had to do with HDT all in one fighting some other mods.  Without it, I get 60fps and real smooth sailing whatever the case may be in game, hence the issue marked as solved.  

 

The additional last thread post was to the gentleperson who helped me solve it regarding what body slide models he uses as he specified something about it in one of his helpful proposed solutions.

Already got fixed I see but I was immediately gonna suggest you had something HDTpe /SMP related in there.  I edited HDT havok object.esp the other day and took all the outfits out of it.

Big performance increase and no more spazzy boobs, disappearing female npc's.  All it does is handle collisions after all so I just use the console to add the object manually to an npc if I feel like it.

Would you mind to share that edited .esp?
