Outfit Studio Crash

I posted a question earlier about outfit studio a few days ago somewhat signaling I am currently working on creating bodyslide conversions for armors. I now have a new problem other than the one I posted earlier.

While working on some conversions for some vanilla armor, whenever I go to save my progress with the armor outfit studio will get halfway done with saving and then give me "Fatal Exception: The program will terminate now." I have looked it up and no one seems to complain about this issue at the same point I experience it at. I must add this only happens with armor from one specific mod and no other armors seem to have this issue so it is not necessarily strictly a problem with Outfit studio.

The mod containing these armors is "A Little Sexy Apparel Replacer" found on the nexus site.

Any help would be much appreciated

It's not outfit studio it's cause by a flaw or something it doesn't like somewhere in their mesh and when you try to save/export when it hits that spot it'll crash. I have had it before working on somethings and sometimes working with .OBJ files but importing into blender then back out usually fixed it.

What Myunhinny said,

One of the more common cases is that the Mesh was exported with Oblivion/Fallout NitriStrips rather than NiTriShapes or something like that.

In Nifskope you can sometimes just right click on the odd Nitri and just change it.

The Object Export and import as an object can work as well sometimes.

From there you build Partitions which can now be done in Outfit Studio with clicking on the object right click and pick Build Partition note that it builds it for slot 32.

I attempted to do this with both blender and Nifskope but I was left with the same error. I also noticed after exporting the file as obj. file and then importing it back into nifskope, it had some major issues where it simply did not load up properly.

You were right about the nitristrips error. I noticed this when I looked at the file in nifskope and changed them all to nitrishape instead but it still did not resolve my issue. I also tried to build partitions on the obj. file I created, but had no such option as you described and the obj. which would load up in outfit studio but was very far away from the baseshape for some reason.

That is because skinning isn't supported in .OBJ format so when you export something in .OBJ format the skinning and everything gets removed. So when you start outfit studio you have to select start new project select the body you want or body that was being used in the outfit then scale the outfit down to the correct size and adjust it up and down if needed add bone nodes and weighting. When you export in .OBJ it'll pop up the warning about skinning.

I have exported lots of oblivion armor/outfits to skyrim by exported each item in the nif in .OBJ then scaled it all to correct size and then adjusted the body to fit.

Fallout 3 and NV nifs load up into outfit studio fine and I just replaced the body with a new body scaled to fit and then after exporting it I then ran it through mesh rigger to remove the fallout 3/NV stuff from the nif and replace it with skyrim stuff.

So I have managed to successfully export as an .obj and then import the new .obj back to outfit studio which did fix my crash on save problem. I really don't know what to do from there. I was able to shape the armor and get the bone weights set up easily enough but I don't know what to do from there.  The armor causes a CTD every time so there is something I either didn't do or another issue with the armor.

I wanted to mention that Gamplayer said I need to rebuild the partitions and I see the tab for them next to the Bone Weights tab but I don't seem to have the option to rebuild the partitions when I right click on any of the armor parts (note: this armor is broken up into 5 separate parts). I looked through all the options and tools and couldn't find what I needed. Any advice on this (assuming it's necessary) would be nice.

I really appreciate all the help so far it got me much further than I would've gotten on my own.

OBJ files lose everything that was attached to armor/outfit there is no reason to rebuild the partitions as everything gets newly added when you export the file back out of outfit studio. I tried to check out the file on the nexus but it seems the site has taken a shit or something because when you click download on any file no files appear.

This was the mod I was using http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5564/? and I used v499 and I was looking at the CBBE version.

"Sorceress outfit (Dragon's Crown) crashes Outfit Studio when saving project"

Solved for v3.7.5.

The Link you gave seems to be the exact issue I am having. I guess I will just have to wait until v3.7.5 comes out. Thanks

I know which one it is there is no file showing for any nexus file. Every file I click on shows nothing nada zilch 0.

Not sure what they are doing to the sorceress outfit but I loaded each nif into outfit studio and then saved and had no problem saving without it popping up a fatal error.

Figured out what was causing the downloads to not appear it seems it was being caused by the referer addon.

Which file is the one causing outfit studio to crash?

I was trying to convert the ebony armor but it has now been solved and it was an issue with Outfit studio. Ousnius had some other people with the same issue and fixed it for the v3.7.5 release. I tested it and it is fixed now.

Must of been something that was done that it didn't like. I just loaded the CBBE ebony armor and ebony mail into outfit studio and saved with no problem I even did one save where I loaded a new body into it and then saved with no problem. I don't have the newest version of outfit studio.

It must have been an update that caused the problem. I tried it on 3.7.3 and 3.7.4 and found neither of those worked but 3.7.5 does work and something earlier than the first two versions I listed might work (at least one does because it worked for you) so my only guess was something got broke in an update.

Could be. I'm going to test the newest version and see if it works for a file I have that is crashing mine on save and see if it works with the newest version if not I'll throw away the problematic file and then go back to my version of outfit studio.

*Edit

Nope crashed the newest version as well. Time to throw the file away and then remove the newest version files.

"Go back to your version of Outfit Studio" ?

Care to tell me what's wrong with the new ones? :P

There's been a lot of fixes that would be good for your NIF files, and you can create partitions now.

My problem isn't with nifs it's with .OBJ files as that is what I almost solely use outfit studio for. The one I tested was causing outfit studio to crash on export testing in the new version had the same outcome. Other problems that I have seen are ones where you export and no errors or anything but then you go to load it into nifskope it throws up a ton of errors. Then go back and open the file in outfit studio again and see that outfit studio decided to eat half of the outfit on export. One that I have seen as well is where triangle holes show up when a exported .OBJ file is loaded into outfit studio but that can be fixed by throwing the file into zbrush then exporting it back out then load it into outfit stdio.

So if the crash on export happens in both I might as well just stay with the old one.

Well no, the logic would be to always stay with the most recent one, unless there's a NEW bug with it.

Anyway, if you never let me know of these issues, then I can never fix them.

Please tell me about these things in the future, it will make both your and my life easier.

I'll need the OBJ files to figure out any issues.
