Guest Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I have an issue when trying to post an image on any forum page, even under spoiler. Constantly receive error message "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community." I've watched through the community rules, no info found. So, I don't have the slightest idea of an image extension of what kind is allowed here? jpg 124 kb - is it really too massive for the publication?! Or there is some misunderstanding here.
Comrade Isbariya Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 JPG files should be fine, even the size. If you're using Internet Explorer, drop it, and switch to Chrome. IE doesn't allow a lot of the forum's feature without any reason. Don't ask me why, I just went over to Chrome and life's easy again. Also, it seems to depend on where you upload your pictures. You can aswell attach them to your post. (Sadly I didn't find an option to upload pictures to my own profile yet, or I'm just too blind to see it. ) or if you ever attached them before, load them from your media and put them into spoilers just fine. Oh and I think threads like that would better go into technical support section somewhere. ^^
Guest Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I'm using Chrome. I didn't find an option to upload pictures to my own profile as well. Gotta go into technical support section. Thanks.
Jazzman Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Maybe you can't embed stuff because you're trying to upload an image link to the web page, not to the image itself. This would quite inevitably lead to the mentioned error message.
Comrade Isbariya Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 What I found out so far: The error message often is just not true. If you are typing in a custom color, and you start off like and then paste the link which is white, and end teh BB code in white too, it always seems to result in that message, as Color codes are (if hidden or not) BB Codes too, and the way mentioned above they break the image code. To solve this, simply don't write BB code in a custom color, or make sure that you mark the whole thing and give one color at a time, this will most likely make the error message disappear if it was due to BB code problems. Second, if that error message popped up once, and you change the code, or pik another picture to upload, you get teh same error message over and over again, although the pic IS allowed. You'll have to exit the editor and refresh the page to solve that.
Guest Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Jazzman, I am uploading the URl, not the Web page address. Comrade Isbariya, A custom color - like yours? I am not that fan of custom colors. Nah, that's not the right directions, ladies&gents. Tell me, please, what is it Imgur? Or maybe I should check some other hosting?
Jazzman Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 imgdepo.com/id/i9534996 As I've already said, you use the link to a website that contains the image, not to the image itself, in this case it's a jpg. So the correct line in BBCode goes [img= and ends with .../id/i9534996.jpg Don't forget to set the closing ], ...996.jpg] Here's your image... Warning! 18+ /solved. Have fun!
Comrade Isbariya Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Imgur has blocked LL once again, therefore no pictures linked here are shown. Sometimes you can open them with a rightclick and choosing to open them in a new tab / window, sometimes not. Just don't use imgur. (Still it's sad, I use to use imgur a lot.)
myuhinny Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Same here I'm also not a fan of colored text but all I do is adblock their color font and it'll prevent that color font from appearing so they will become muted unless they use normal text. Just get the workaround for chrome/firefox that prevents imgur from blocking anything linked here. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/56018-workaround-for-imgur-images-not-loading-chrome-firefox/ You can also upload pictures using LL. Hit the more reply options - choose file - once picture is selected hit - attach this file. Click to upload the picture then paste it under the spoiler and you should be good to go. You can upload up to Unlimited of files (Max. single file size: 100MB)

So, it's a bit labour-consuming to append simbols like img= or .jpg to the text under spoiler, isn't it? Anyway thanks a lot. ............... So, no point in messing up with imgur. Thanks for warning. Lexi SubZero Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 My only gripe is..you can't post screenshots directly from your Steam library..as the url doesn't have an extension by default (I guess same applies for the imdepo site few posts above..) http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/424815928383696618/97DCC9F47A477D9CF7B92942E4F3790EF1F8C4AD/..even though the image shows up when writing the post..once you click preview/submit, the "not allowed extension" pops up.
Guest Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 If the image is NOT an attachment, then the problem should not exist. Just use [ img= some URL here ] and you image should appear. But be sure you have a public URL available.
Guest Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 ............ I refuse to understand what this exists for. I have to configure the image BBC on my own (adding "=" ".jpg") instead of simply paste it to a ready BBC, haven't I now? Or again, it is my hosting I am using? It gives me these 6 codes: https://imgdepo.com/show/9543013 http://imgdepo.com/id/i9543013 http://imgdepo.com/id/i9543013 <a href="https://imgdepo.com/show/9543013" target="_blank"><img src="http://imgdepo.com/thumb/2016/Jul/31/1f95b924.jpg"/></a> <img src="http://imgdepo.com/id/i9543013" border="0"> None of them seems to be ready to make my life easier.
myuhinny Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Click box with green line through it which is next to font and eraser. Scroll down to post link add your link and away you go or just paste your links into the reply box then click the box with the green line through it scroll down to spoiler copy cut and paste them into the spoiler box. the box with the green line through it has many special BBCode options.
Guest Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Which of the links should I use? I mean those above. I've been messing around with the green box you've mentioned for awhile long ago. I always recieve error message. If I for example try to paste this one http://imgdepo.com/id/i9543564 (the direct link) it's not correct for it contains "http://". Meanwhile I need my BBC to look somewhat like this [spoiler ][img =imgdepo .com/id/i9536203 .jpg ][/ spoiler] (without spaces) to be appropriate for publication.
