Saric92 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 It's here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA57X3V97972 Recently ordered one for gaming and was wondering if it'd be any good at running skyrim with some 2k textures and an enb+heavily modded. My current laptop which is around 3-4 years old can run it with everything set at low...with 10-15 fps, so was hoping for something better.
jfraser Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Laptops will never match decked out desktops, of course, but you should have no problems with that rig.

indipuk Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 8Gb RAM is too low in 2016, especially if you plan to run skyrim with heavy and unoptimized mods. GTX 960 is pretty weak aswell, and I used to run desktop version not some downgraded "M".

PsychoMachina Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 My laptop has a GTX 860M, 16GB ram/4GB vram and I can run the game in Ultra with highly tweaked Skyrim INI, Verdant Grasses, parallax ground textures and a mod that I use to spawn 10 followers at populated locations or enemy battles. Throw in a performance ENB and the FPS is reasonable (average = 45), but Quality or Extreme ENBs will drop the FPS (average = 15), playable, but not buttery smooth. Since you are set on getting a gaming laptop, your next important investment (emphasis on important) is a cooling mat or a portable fan or both.

I have a portable fan stand, but if I'm spending this much on a gaming laptop I might as well get something a bit better down the line
