With what's been going on recently I suddenly realized that since I've been here on Lovers Lab I've felt more like an adult (and I'm on quite a few sites).

So many places on the web make you feel like a child--even when their 'products' are for adults. (I'm not talking just games here.)

How about you? Do you feel more adult when you're here?

Posted

Hell yeah! Since I joined I grew a beard, sideburns, oh and my shlong grew 7 inches! :D

In all seriousness, I agree. In contrast to the chaos that is the Halo flood forums, I find myself acting very maturely here. Part of it I believe is that this community is so respectful.

Or put another way, if you're treated like an adult then an adult ye shall be.

PS to some people on some sites: Calling somebody a troll is not being adult (unless they are a troll.) :D

I tend to agree. I appreciate LL. This is the only site that I am active on.

I appreciate the talent that participates here.

I appreciate the generosity of modders in sharing their talents.

I appreciate the helpfulness that community members consistently demonstrate.

I appreciate the respect members show each other.

I appreciate that my comfort levels in some mods are challenged by more liberal-minded members.

I appreciate that there is a great deal of freedom on this site in that I believe there are only nine rules (whereas when I updated adobe acrobat reader yesterday there were like 300 conditions) ;-)

You know, since you mentioned it, it does seem like the cummunity here is relatively healthy and wise and totally earning my respect. It makes me want to be a better member.

I really like how we can discuss issues with each other and include the admins without animosity toward them and vice versa. None of us are perfect but we are doing our best to be fair.

As for feeling like an adult, growing up, I'd always thought that some day I'd suddenly feel different, like an adult. That never happened. Instead, everyone now seems like big kids, myself included. I suspect that either childhood or adulthood was a myth, at least in how I viewed them.

Ever tried Foxit Reader, the light version?

Thanks.

Actually needing outside influences to make you feel like an adult is a bit immature.

Get stuffed Gandalf :exclamation:

You're one of the most trouble-making people on here. Try that on your lover Nexus and you won't last two seconds.

Tom' date=' just don't respond to him, or make sure to (if nessacary) go overboard on being polite.

Don't stoop to his level.

So Gandalf comes into my nice thread that I started as a way to thank Lovers Lab and, as per usual, he's missed the whole point of the thread--which is that Lovers Lab treats people as adults so they get adults whereas a place like Nexus treats grownups as children who must be spanked constantly. And what does Nexus get out of all this?

Him.

Case closed.

It's funny he's the oldest here but the most immature.

You missed my point if you're an adult you don't need a website to make you feel like one.If you get spanked at the nexus you should stop acting like a child.

As you can see, Mr., I'm a wolf--which means I don't have to bend down to you--I'm just at the right height now to reach out and bite your balls off.

This message was for the person formerly known as Gandalf the Wizard and now known as Gandalf the Unich. :D

Maybe don't feed the troll? Tho it can be fun. And' date=' he's a nice reminder of what the Nexus can breed.

thesapien:It was a bit a of cheap shot on my part. If anyone's more of a troll here, it's me. I haven't made any mods to share and am not currently playing any games with mods. The most I've done is maybe help a few users with some general and technical problems. You're an actual contributor with a role in the community. And I really do appreciate seeing you active in the forums.

Also, I'm not entirely against trolling, so defending your actions with me isn't really necessary in this case. The reason I loosely labeled your response as "trolling" was because much of it resembled a quick "That is wrong" without enough substance for further investigation. As with name-calling, again, I'm not opposed to such responses because they still provide something. I've had people simply call me "stupid" and followed up with considering how it might be true. Not sure though how to respond to "gibberish", as an example from your reply, which is more like a full stop without knowing where the breakdown in communication broke.

Yes, I do agree that opinions are opinions. But I don't agree that a common or folk definition, left as a self reference, is all that enlightening. Gibberish?

I fully endorse the enlightened words in the above. That person can really be humble and nice.
