How to select specific animations to play during a Sexlab scene?

I was trying to look up some ways to choose a specific animation to play during a Sexlab scene. Almost every single thread on Loverslab that I try to open, even by going from links within the website, comes back with this message:

This topic has been archived. This means that you cannot reply to this topic.

And this would be fine, if only I could actually read the topic, too. Instead, the entire thread is blank, and I have confirmed this on multiple browsers and devices, even on mobile. What gives?

Anyways, does anyone have some sort of reliable command or mod that lets me select a specific animation set to play? Toggling through the entire list with O is really troublesome...

If you have Defeat installed (you can disable most, if not all of the functions if you so desire), pressing 0 (zero) brings up a list of available animations during a scene. Do note however, that the list is filtered to fit the scene, so if you are being raped, you can only select from rape animations and so forth. Zaz animations work a bit differently as in you can not change it. But consensual and no-con work normally.

SexLab Tools let u choose animations

This is how Tools is better than Defeat, for only this purpose (obviously if you want combat rape, Tools won't help you much).

Tools has a hotkey to select other animations matching the tags used to generate the scene and another hotkey to select a tag if you want something else. It is a two step process to change tag, then select animation, but it does give you full control.

THere is another mod.. I think called "NEN control yourself" that may do something similar, if without the tag changing. It has been a while since I tried it, but I did not keep it.

What are you guys talking about? Press O during sex and the next position is chosen. Or am I misunderstanding the question?

Also, MCM > SexLab > Toggle Animations lets you enable and disable animations. You can define your overall set of available sex animations and a subset of aggressive (i.e. rape) animations.

While that is true, OP wished for a way to select a specific animation. In your example, pressing O, cycles through all suitable animations.

I'm wondering that too. Though what I'd like is a way to filter the animations chosen, without disabling animations. Is there a way to do this with the tags and sex tools?

Pressing O just moves to the next animation in the list of possible animations, based on how the mod starting the animation told sexlab to select one.

Sexlab Tools has a hotkey you can set to do this, another you can set to bring up the list you're on, and a third to bring up a list of single tags you can select to create a new list.

If a mod ... say Solutions, where you can offer a blowjob to the gate guards at Riften or Whiterun the first time you get there to pass the persuade check to get in, starts a sexlab animation, it will likely just have the tag "blowjob" or "oral" but might also exclude aggressive animations. Say this starts the build into Sexlab "Blowjob" animation and you want something a little more aggressive. There just hitting O will only switch through the blowjob animations you have installed without the Aggressive tag.

So with Sexlab Tools installed, I hit Shift - H to bring up a list of tags, select Aggressive, and then hit H to bring up a list of all the aggressive animations.  I can also Shift -H and pick Oral instead, and then H will give me all of the oral anims, including aggressive ones and cunnilingus, in case I'm playing a domme like female and ... graciously letting the guard have a taste of her.

Disabling animations in the Sexlab MCM menu is only for those animations you never wish to see but are built into the base package. Anything else added through either NSAP or a SLAL package you can not select through those and they will not be added.

Hmm... but it doesn't let you preset a filter, right? So that only oral, as in your example, would be chosen in certain situations?

If I understand what you want, no, Sexlab does not work that way. You do not get to control, before the animation starts, what kind of animation is chosen.

You cannot tell Sexlab that the gate guard only uses an anal animation, or never uses oral. There is nothing that exists at that point... no scene to have a filter for, no situation is defined to be filtered.

A mod has to start an animation. If you really wanted to control which animations are used for each scene that individual mod creates, you can edit the mod and change what tags it uses in the call to Sexlab to start an animation. Sometimes that is done through the dialog options you choose, sometimes just through the scripts that option uses, or the spell you cast.

In my example, Solutions has the filter for oral animations for that scene. If you did not want an oral animation in that situation, you would have to edit the mod to change the situation... or use another mod that can allow you to pick which animation is used instead, but that will only work after Sexlab has been called to start one - then you have something to change and the mod gives you more control than Sexlab has built in to change it.

Rather than edit the mod which triggers animations, could it be possible to have a "tag-selection" mod that fits between the mod triggering animations and sexlab? For example, there are sex animations specific to vampires and I'd want those to trigger instead. It seems a simple "if race = vampire then add tag vampire" should be possible.

I do not believe the skyrim modding system allows for that, though I do believe what you describe is done in other programming environments.

What I would suggest is a combination of the SLATE mod and Sexlab Tools. Use slate to add extra tags to the vampire animtions so they are more likely to be options, and then use Tools to change to the animation you wish when the scene starts.  Often I can see in the console the tags that the mod used to request the animation from Sexlab, and you can just make sure those tags are on the vampire animations you wish to use.

If you want a mod to just use vampire animations, you either have to make sure the mod is aware you are a vampire, or disable all of the non-vampire animations (which you probably do not want to do, since other non-vampire NPCs will probably be having sex in your game).

In case of the guard and solutions: it doesn't matter if you are a vampire and have several animations tagged with vampire, solutions will still only ask for "oral", "blowjob".

If you want to have a brdge-mod between sexlab and other mods, you'd need to change every single mod. I doubt everybody will rewrite their code for that purpose. My best advice if you don't want to use tools: try to replace your sexmods with scent of sex. There YOU can define which tag/animation/whatever is triggered.

I don't understand how the various mods talk to sexlab, but it seems to me that a wrapper mod could intercept the sexlab calls for an animation, change the animation chosen based on some criteria, then pass that on to sexlab.

Naz: What you said is what I've been trying to say a variety of ways.

Jwid: A wrapper is what I had in mind saying what you wanted could be done with other programming environments but not in Skyrim.

If you are programmer, feel free to check through the sexlab dev thread and see how it is done, maybe offer to help or make that wrapper.  Otherwise, to be blunt, what you want is not possible, is too hard to do, and you just have to take what is available and make the most of it.

I don't actually need such a mod you wished in OP, but just for the possibilities i'd be glad if you could prove me wrong. Good luck! :)

While not something I'd probably use (and no need to promise), though I'd have to see how it worked, possibly the Xaz/Zaz bondage group and the futa group would like it.

Press 0 during sex(configurable) and you'll get a list of all available animations. This might be a SL Defeat feature though. I've always had it in my game so not sure what is what.

I believe that is a Defeat feature, though it is not unique to Defeat. Tools has a similar feature, which is what I originally suggested.
